Star Pearls 2*28*05

Dear friends,

On the island of Yerba Buena, everyone is celebrating. Tables are set with figs, triple cream brie and champagne. Rose, jasmine and ylang ylang scent the air. Dinners of oysters with truffle oil and seafood stew are planned for the evening. On March 19, the highlight of the festival, there will be a group dance and ritual ceremony of Spirit. What's happening? The annual month-long fest of bringing the heavens to earth - Venus in Pisces!

The scribe explains: In traditional astrology, we have two benefics, Venus and Jupiter. Venus is benefic because her aim is love and pleasure. Jupiter is benefic because his aim is abundance and positive expansion. Given our tendencies to complicate our lives, sometimes the drive for love and pleasure causes us suffering, as does the drive for abundance and expansion. But Venus is exalted in Pisces, and Jupiter exalted in Cancer. This means we get more of the good stuff - love and pleasure - with less of the suffering. In Pisces Venus more easily lets go of our difficulties and connects to the great ocean of love, the very being and essence of us all.

Jupiter in Cancer gives a blessed year, but after it's over we wait another 11 before experiencing it again. Venus circles the zodiac near the Sun, so around this time of the Sun in Pisces we have the joy of Venus in the sign where she does the utmost good. On the island where everyone knows astrology, this is reason to party!

But it isn't just an ordinary party. Venus is invoked with love, flowers and song as usual. What makes Venus in Pisces so very special is the openness to Spirit. We can truly celebrate because we can experience our light essence. We are all expressions of the One.

The symbol of Pisces is two fish joined by a cord - the 'connected fish.' We are all individual, but connected to everyone and everything else. What makes that connection strong or weak is the bond of love.

With 3 planets now in Pisces, celebrate your highest and most exalted love. 26 degrees of Pisces has been long considered the special degree of this sign. Mercury traverses 26 Pisces on March 2 - communicate your love. Sun reaches it on March 16 - act your love. And we all love our love with Venus at 26 Pisces on March 19.

Astrology is without peer in describing the nature of our lives. A skilled astrologer with an accurate birth time will know something about our physical health, how our mind works, our emotions, desires, our likely jobs, our money situation, relationships, and so on, and when all these are changing for better or worse. But once reality is accurate described, what *to do* about it? Awareness and understanding can be of great help, but sometimes a well chosen strategy can be just the thing you need. The subject of dealing with and improving upon our situation with astrology in mind is the subject of 'remedies.'

Because of its continuous tradition and cultural respect for astrology, Indian trumps Western when it comes to these. Most Indian astrologers will include recommendations for gemstones, mantras, and rituals in their sessions. These are quite effective. But in my experience most Americans don't want to spend hundreds or often thousands on a quality gemstone; most of us aren't comfortable with chanting in Sanskrit; and the idea of paying priests in a faraway land to invoke a planet on our behalf seems a bit odd. So what will work in our contemporary culture?

One answer lies with Western astrology itself. The maestros of Renaissance astrology were not *just* astrologers. They were physicians, alchemists and philosophers. All of nature was an expression of the 7 planets. Substances were used to encourage the positive and counter the negative. What were their tactics and what am I doing about it? Watch your email on March 2 for a special announcement!

All times PDT. See below for comments on other visible planets. The Sun and Moon together set the tone of the time. The Sun provides our orientation for the month; Moon signs and aspects influence the energy of the day, and tells us how we approach the truth of the Sun. Planet aspects (Mars square Jupiter, Venus conjunct Uranus) influence the energies for several days (sometimes weeks) before and even after the aspect depending on the nature of the planets involved.

Sun * in Pisces. The light of our world is in the sign of the great ocean. We explore various ways of connecting to the all - music, art, spiritual life. We take time to find wisdom within.

Moon * days 21 - 28 (new Moon is day 1. Last Quarter on Thursday means time to turn within. The coming weekend 3/4-6 is one of the best in the year to clear up. Also good times for doing a detox diet this month - if you are interested in this, send for a free sample of the Pisces issue of Living With the Gods and Goddesses (limit one free sample issue per reader).

Monday 2/28 * Moon in Scorpio. With 3 planets in Pisces, the Moon in Scorpio is a powerful place to do emotional healing work. We are willing to go to the depths our situation. As anyone on a healing journey knows, it is resistance that is half the battle. Moon in Scorpio gives us the courage to dispense with coping strategies and get to the heart of the matter.

Tuesday 3/1 * Moon in Scorpio, Mercury square Pluto. Ahh, remember Mercury and Pluto? They had a 3 time thing back in December. If you recall any intensity of mind, power struggles, or urge to purge, some of that may resurface now. The best use of this energy: discard what you don't need, especially paperwork. The trap: power struggles in a business climate or communications that sever relationships.

Wednesday 3/2 * Moon in Sagittarius. Sun and Moon both in signs of Jupiter today - we are growing towards the good. If we spend time going deep into our emotions on Monday and Tuesday we will be rewarded today with the gift of aiming higher. We now expand our vision. All ways we communicate love (Mercury at 26 Pisces, see above) are blessed and return to us tenfold.

Thursday 3/3 * Moon in Sagittarius, Mars square Jupiter. We have extra energy of conquest this week, but a feeling of reluctance or being tested at the same time. We want to go for the new job, but are concerned about the consequences. Go for it now, and energy will be smoother down the line. We all benefit from extra exercise this week.

Friday 3/4 * Moon in Sag, into Capricorn in the afternoon, Venus conjunct Uranus. Venus - Uranus means sudden surprises in love. Delight your partner - love them in the way they are least expecting today.

Saturday 3/5 * Moon in Capricorn. Capricorn is accomplishment energy - make use of it. Do taxes, clean up - the next two weekends will be much better suited to something else! Moon conjunct Mars late night (10:45 pm CA time) means we'll want to be moving our body.

Sunday 3/6 * Moon in Capricorn, into Aquarius in the afternoon. We know the energy of Aquarius - we had 3 planets in Aquarius the first half of February. Today the knowledge and community oriented energy of Aquarius is harnessed for Piscean aims of beauty, reverie, emotional connection and spirituality. Learn or connect in a group around any of these themes today.

Have a stellar week!

Peace and love,
Jonathan Pearl
