Star Pearls 4*25*05

Dear friends,

On the island of Buena Yerba, all the residents use astrology for just about everything. Parents know the charts of their children, and so understand something of their children's physical nature, emotions, pleasures, mind, truth and life path even before they grow up. Since astrology is taught in the schools, the children learn to coordinate their activities for greatest benefit. As the people reach adulthood, astrology plays in everything. For the residents it is like looking at the clock. Oh, Mercury hour now, I'll write, or check emails, or do business. Then Moon hour comes and many break for tea. Moon in Scorpio this past weekend -lots of romance happening on Buena Yerba!

So when yours truly the scribe shuffles between the island and his favorite city of San Francisco on the mainland, it is like Harry Potter going from Hogwarts to the land of the muggles. Don't get me wrong, I *love* San Francisco but so many of the residents don't know what they are missing with astrology. Sun sign columns everywhere, but how many people know where the Moon is today? So many willing to read a vague tidbit in a newspaper, yet how many people consider having an astrologer as a special ally on their journey of life?

So I have decided the best way to illustrate the benefits of astrology is to write about a real life example from this beautiful City - our very own Mayor Gavin Newsom. Watch for installments in future columns!

Tele-class on Duodecima - this Wednesday night!

What is duodecima? Duodecima means 'twelve-fold division of the zodiac.' So instead of a planet in one sign, really we have mostly one sign and a dash of another. Instead of Sun in Cancer, it could be Cancer-Aquarius. Instead of Moon in Aries, it could be Aries-Libra. Would you like hazelnut ice-cream, or hazelnut with a bit of chocolate on the side? I much prefer two flavors!

Firmicus Maternus, Sicilian lawyer turned astrologer of the 4th century, thought most highly of this technique. Yet I haven't read much about it elsewhere. I have found duodecima to work very well. And it could revolutionize astrology. Curious? Sign up today and tune in Wednesday night!

Star*Watch
All times PDT. See below for comments on other visible planets. The Sun and Moon together set the tone of the time. The Sun provides our orientation for the month; Moon signs and aspects influence the energy of the day, and tells us how we approach the truth of the Sun. Planet aspects influence the energies for several days (sometimes weeks) before and even after the aspect depending on the nature of the planets involved.

Sun * in Taurus. Slow down. Since nearly everyone is on the rush drug caffeine, I'll say it again. S l o w d o w n . Look at the wine, smell it, breathe, smell again. Swirl, smell. What myriad associations ? Now sip. Hundreds of flavor chemicals - how many can you taste? Let the juice of celebration tickle the tongue. It is in no hurry to slide down the throat. Ahh, now we can think straight - about what gives us pleasure, about our worth in the world. In Taurus we establish ourselves in physical pleasure, sensations of the body, smell and touch especially strong. Taurus motto: Follow your bliss, the money follows.

Moon * days 18 - 24 (new Moon is day 1). After the Full Moon, we share our energy with the world. 4th quarter begins late Saturday.

Monday 4/25 * Moon in Scorpio, into Sagittarius late night. Sun in Taurus & Moon in Scorpio means the lights of our world are in the signs of willpower and passion. How to direct desire? This afternoon Moon squares Mars - good for physical or driven pursuit but beware provoking hostility.

Tuesday 4/26 * Moon in Sagittarius. These few days Mercury the Messenger is as furthest as he gets from the Sun. We are thinking and communicating more clearly and effectively than ever. With Moon in Sagittarius, expand the world of your thoughts.

Wednesday 4/27 * Moon in Sagittarius, Mercury opposite Jupiter. Our minds and spirit are looking over the next hill for the bigger & better climb. Thoughts of teachers, wisdom and big plans. Yes possible excesses in communication, but since Prince Jupiter is jolly good-natured, our mind-stretches easily work to our advantage.

Thursday 4/28 * Moon in Capricorn. Yesterday the big idea - today the business plan. Sun in Taurus and Moon in Capricorn double earth with tangible, long term results. A column ago I wrote of the Moon's cycle of movement called declination. There are two peaks to this cycle - one with Moon in late Gemini and into early Cancer, and the other with the Moon in late Sagittarius and into early Capricorn. With Moon in Capricorn, extra-drive to succeed but watch denial of nourishment via negative thinking regarding ourselves or anyone else.

Friday 4/29 * Moon in Capricorn, Venus square Neptune. Capricorn Moon puts our feet on the ground, but Venus square Neptune lulls our romance-hearts to the clouds. A tiff between Venus in Taurus and Neptune in Aquarius - the sensuous lover meets the political idealist at a party, but they both drink too much. Can they communicate? Only through political art. Not smoothest match-up but surprise sometimes delights.

Saturday 4/30 * Moon in Aquarius, Mars into Pisces. We are oriented towards Taurus pleasure and safety - but emotionally we need intellectual wisdom and freedom from structure. How to reconcile this dilemma between King Sun and Queen Moon? Find love in your community of friends - & make time for smart talk. Mars into Pisces - for the next 6 weeks the men and all warrior heroes takes their last quest: feverish painting, passionate song, strong drive to meditate.

Sunday 5/1 * Moon in Aquarius. May Day, *the* Taurus holiday of fertility, pleasure, the earth, and pleasures on the earth. Too bad the astrologers are not picking the day - if so next Sunday with new Moon in Taurus more ideal. But we won't refuse a party, and today's Moon-Neptune morning conjunction means wine with picnic brunch softens Aquarius intellect and warms our skin on the cold grass.

Have a stellar week!

Peace and love,
Jonathan Pearl
