Star Pearls 6*27*05

Dear friends,

What is a birthday? Yes, the day we were born. Nearly everyone celebrates in one way or another. Though not all cultures party as we do, this custom goes back thousands of years in many parts of the world. We know it is a special day.

What really is a birthday? From the astrological view, it is the precise moment the Sun returns to exactly the same position in the zodiac as when we were born. This is called the solar return, and astrologers calculate it down to the minute. This happens once a year of course, but due to the Earth's wobble, the exact time varies. It often occurs the day before or after what people typically think of as their birthday. So the make-a-wish moment will be different from year to year.

This is the magic time of them all. We bask in the sunlight we most intimately know. We know at heart we share in that light. We understand the giving nature of the Sun, and we appreciate our own gifts. We see the connection - we share our gifts with the world, the world responds and we get them in return. This is why presents and birthdays go together and always have. Our friends, lovers and family say to us: thank you for the gifts you bring to the world! Here are presents in your honor.

The Sun lights up the world, and like an all seeing eye knows all. So we make wishes. Here is what this little light would like from the big light. The solar return moment is the best time announcing our true heart's desires to the world. The Sun and all that it lights hears our voice. Don't stop at one or two. The universe is vast.

Sometimes we get lucky. Our solar return is 9:30 pm on a Friday and we were having our cake anyway. Other years require more effort - if we really want to feel the cosmic juices flowing into our soul, we might have to be awake at 2:30 am. Experience the exact solar return moment once, and you'll understand. It is an event not to be missed.

After my own solar return moment last week, I understood: one of the most important things astrology does is to communicate our own special gifts to us. When we want to know gifts of a person, we look to their chart - the moment of birth. Look, you have Venus and Mercury together in Aquarius. You have an amazing talent for uniquely expressed loving communication! Spread your beauty wings to the world! No one else is bringing your message in quite the same way. At the same time, we can spot the fantasmas. We know that shiny box over there looks nice right now, but is this your most special gift? Is this really want you want to bring to the world? If we are off path, we turn to astrology chart to consider our choices.

We also understand the gifts of each day and week. Over the past weekend, both Mercury and Venus joined with Saturn. Many felt the heaviness of mind and heart. This week both Mercury and Venus enter the sign of Leo. We take all what we have felt in Cancer, and still feel with the Sun in this internal sign, and take it to the world. We leave fears and doubts behind and radiantly self express with love and beauty. Time to line your thoughts with bling-bling, put colors in your email and rainbow dress!

Star*Watch
All times PDT. See below for comments on other visible planets. The Sun and Moon together set the tone of the time. The Sun is our outer orientation for the month; Moon signs and aspects are the energetic pulls of the day, and tell us how we approach the truth of the Sun. Planet aspects influence the energies for several days (sometimes weeks) before and even after the aspect depending on the nature of the planets involved.

Sun * in Cancer. The light is within. We are feeling and taking care of our insides. How to take care of ourselves and others? We eat well among our tribe of friends and true family. The trap of Cancer - crab claws that just won't let go.

Moon * days 22 - 28 (new Moon is day 1). Last quarter Moon on Tuesday is even more opportunity to turn attention inward.

Monday 6/27 * Moon in Pisces, into Aries late; Mercury conjunct Venus, and both Mercury and Venus into Leo. We communicate both beauty and detail today, like an artful singer who is their own manager and producer. The evening uplifts, our imagination taking cues from our teachers and a more positive vision. With Mercury into Leo our minds gain confidence that has been lacking of late. And whatever our love life has been the past few weeks, with Venus into the sign of the Lion, we want to strut.

Tuesday 6/28 * Last Quarter Moon in Aries. Potent day of Mars, with energies peaking both midday and around 7:30 pm. Good for lunchtime walk and evening workout. Fire signs don't second guess, they just do - so we have straightforward communications and bold desires.

Wednesday 6/29 * Moon in Aries. The rush into newness continues through the morning, and we have unexpected twists or technology mid afternoon. Later energies taper off allowing time for rest and recuperation.

Thursday 6/30 * Moon in Taurus. Sun in Cancer and Moon in Taurus is the delight of all things lunar: women, the natural world, food, emotions. Singing harmonies tonight.

Friday 7/1 * Moon in Taurus, Sun square Jupiter. A day to celebrate the pleasures of Mother Earth ~ with gusto! Thank the Goddess for California and all farmers markets! Thank the Goddess for redwoods! Thank the Goddess for organic restaurants!

Saturday 7/2 * Moon in Cancer, into Gemini early afternoon, Sun trine Uranus. Our lives have a delightful surprise today, a change of path for the better. Moon into Gemini gets us back in our heads again - with the Cancer and Taurus of this week we've been more into feelings and touch.

Sunday 7/3 * Moon in Gemini. Sublime seeing comes easy in the morning, and an around beneficial day for walking and talking, touching and stroking.

Have a stellar week!

Peace and love,
Jonathan Pearl

Wandering Stars - the planets

Mercury * into Leo. Our minds are bold and confident, and we want some of the spotlight with our speech. We think of elegance and luxury. The best of Leo: it's a grand life! The trap - it's all about me. Mercury in Leo through September 4. Mercury retrogrades July 22 and turns direct on August 15.

Venus * into Leo. Our love wants to be put on pedestal and adored. We'll demand attention - bright colors, bold jewelry, big hair, gold. Venus in Leo through July 22.

Mars * in Aries. The hero on a new quest, the confident one who boldly acts, the warrior with raw physical power. Mars in Aries is always strong, but now with the North node is extra pumped. Mars in Aries through July 27.

Jupiter * in Libra. Blessings in love and partnerships! Learning in realms of art and beauty. Jupiter now direct, so abundance and blessings are coming our way! Jupiter in Libra through October 2005.

Saturn * in Cancer. Structure and responsibility in the domain of our innermost feeling life and among our families and tribes. A positive vision of this energy: the sensitive yet authoritative parent. Saturn direct in Cancer through July 2005.
