Dear friends,
Does he love me? Will I get it on with her? Will his Mars conjunct my Venus?
Romance, love, partnership - these are some of the hottest topics in astrology.
Due to the Sun sign stereotypes, though, people are asking the wrong questions.
Entire books have been written on love looking at Sun signs alone, so I can't
blame the public. I'm glad that so many people are interested in what the stars
say on the matter. The Sun counts but is just the start. This is especially true
in intimate relationships where the body and character (Ascendant), feelings and
inner life (Moon), and attraction, pleasure and love (Venus) are clearly so more
important!
Let's look at it this way. What do you do when the Sun comes up? Most people get
up and go to work. This is the general indicator of the Sun - activity. When do
you spend most time with a lover or partner? Sleeping together counts, so the
answer is obvious - at night. This means the Moon. And how do most relationships
go from the 'we've met' stage to 'we're together'? Over dinner at least a few
times, yes? Moon is all nourishment including food, so she scores again. This
makes the Moon far more important in relationships than the Sun. Venus is Lady
Love herself. And if there is no physical chemistry (Ascendant) then the
relationship never happens to begin with. The Sun is our fundamental
orientation, and connections to the Sun and Moon by aspect or antiscia are the
most powerful links we can have; but looking to the Sun alone in relationships,
in my view, does more harm than good.
So for all those astro romantics and seducers out there, what to do? If you are
*really* interested in a particular person, you can consult a professional like
your author. The simplest is to ask a question of the hour - what is happening
with this relationship? Fast, inexpensive, and you don't even need the birth
info of the other person to get an accurate answer. If you are more serious and
have both charts, you can do a full on chart comparison. This covers just about
everything in your relationship. What if we just want to know a bit more on how
a certain person gets their kicks? In matters of love and pleasure, instead of
the Sun, look to Venus.
You can get the sign of Venus for yourself or the person attracting interest
from the birth date alone by the free lookup at www.astro.com.
In most cases an
exact time isn't required. Venus changes sign about once a month, so there is
little doubt that you'll have the right sign. For the Moon and especially the
Ascendant, you need an exact time. What to do with this info? Let's have some
fun.
How To Turn That Person On, a brief guide for men and women, by Jonathan Pearl.
Venus in Aries - Pleasure in aggression. Sports, new physical adventures of all
kinds, love of the Brad & Angelina variety in Mr & Mrs Smith. Attraction to the
head and hair.
Venus in Taurus - As a woman astrology friend across the Pacific says, "Feed 'em,
fondle 'em, f@#$ em!" Taurus loves food, touch, smells and pleasure so this
really true. Taurus is the sign of the neck, throat and voice so sweet murmurs,
necklaces, and other oral delights will heat up Venus in Taurus.
Venus in Gemini - This person is turned on by your mind. New ideas, talking and
conversing in general turn their attention your way. Curiosity is indispensable
to romance. Gemini rules the shoulders, arms and hands - touching all over in a
variety of ways will arouse their interest.
Venus in Cancer - Cook for them, a romantic candlelight dinner in - seafood in
butter sauce. Cancer is the sign of the stomach and breasts. For women, you know
where to go. For men, as the old saying goes, the way to a man's heart is
through his stomach.
Venus in Leo - Take them out to a flashy night on the town like a fancy
restaurant or show or both! Venus in Leo expects adoration, and if you give it
their devoted heart of gold is yours. Venus in Leo loves colors and bling bling,
and in the body rules the heart and back.
Venus in Virgo - This person has pleasure in their accomplishment, but their
secret fear is that they aren't pretty, sexy, or whatever enough for love.
Complement, but not too much, and never criticize. For all with or loving Venus
in Virgo, it is not a lost cause: heartthrobs Charlize Theron and SF Mayor Gavin
Newsom both have Venus in the sign of the Virgin. Virgo rules the lower belly,
so slow down there before heading further south.
Venus in Libra - The consummate partner, finding pleasure in the ongoing act of
relating itself, and probably beautiful too. Venus in Libra likes social affairs
and all variety of fine arts. A great date would be a gallery opening where
people can dress up, meet and talk in an environment of beauty. Libra connects
to the lower back, so strokes there will get the scales swinging your way.
Venus in Scorpio - Um, they'll be seducing you. If you've been paying attention
to part of the body: Aries at the head, Taurus at the throat and so on, check
lower back Libra and thighs of Sag next and you'll know where Venus in Scorpio
is get getting steamy.
Venus in Sagittarius - Love of the party, enjoying shopping, eating, learning,
and foreign things. Venus in Sag just likes to be happy, and loves expanding her
horizons in all kinds of ways. Don't fence her in or the archer/hunter will set
sights on other prey. Sag is the sign of the thighs - if you've got em, flaunt
em.
Venus in Capricorn - Quiet, steady, lover of accomplishment, but underneath the
sea-goat can be as randy as some of the other more stereotypically sexy signs.
Capricorn is the sign of the knees and while this doesn't sound sexy try the
backs of them.
Venus in Aquarius - Friends are lovers for Venus in Aquarius. This person will
love humanity, and will often have some social concern - politics, the
environment, something that benefits people. So this person's idea of a good
time might just be a political rally. The legs from the knees down are the
Aquarian turn on.
Venus in Pisces - A lover of the whole world and all in it. Venus in Pisces will
get high through art, music, spirituality and all love in general, but if they
aren't getting enough of these natural sweets then sugar and alcohol may be the
easy substitutes. Pisces is the sign of the feet, so expect fine shoes at least.

Next - if you know your stuff and have an accurate
birthtime, check the house position of Venus too. The correspondences to the
body follow with 1st house equating to head, 2nd house to neck and so on. The
person will often have delights in both the sign and house of Venus. And if you
really know your stuff, check their 5th house and what is going on there. If you
want to get into their 7th house of partnership, the place to start is the 5th
house of fun. Happy seducing!

Star*Watch
All times Pacific Daylight Time. See below for comments on other visible
planets. The Sun and Moon together set the tone of the time. The Sun is our
fundamental orientation for the month; Moon signs and aspects are the energetic
pulls of the day, and tell us how we approach the truth of the Sun. Planet
aspects influence the energies for several days and sometimes weeks before and
after the aspect depending on the planets involved.
Sun * in Scorpio. We go more deeply into emotions here than any other sign.
Think of Scorpio season as therapy time - we can get more done working on our
emotions now than any other time of year. Besides, next month is Sagittarius and
we'll want to party. The Sun in Scorpio heats up our sexual energy. The traps of
this sign are obsessing over emotions and sleights, and power plays in
relationships.
Moon * days 30 - 6 (new Moon is day 1). New Moon in Scorpio on Tuesday. Where to
go with our emotion? Deep, deep within.
Monday 10/31 * Moon in Libra, into Scorpio on the dot of midnight. Dark of the
Moon perfect for Hallow's eve, and we'll want some company with Moon in
partnership Libra. Moon connecting to lover Venus in the afternoon at 3:15 pm
means enjoy Halloween chocolate highs and other delights!
Tuesday 11/1 * New Moon in Scorpio. New Moon at 5:25 pm so most of today will
drag. Clean out, give away, let go. These days of Sun and Moon in Scorpio we can
do our most penetrating emotional work of the year. Scorpio is a water sign, so
hot baths and saunas are therapeutic too. Moon squares Saturn tonight at 7:35 pm
limiting energy so have your fun on Monday and rest tonight.
Wednesday 11/2 * Moon in Scorpio, Sun square Saturn 11:21 pm. Not an easy day.
The Sun is essential life; Saturn is the end of life. Our power, confidence and
all round vitality for the last week have been under siege. The best of this
aspect is the positive ways we are giving our energy to our work, our
responsibilities, old things in general. If you have noticed an all round lack
of confidence, let anxieties instill good work habits and know that tomorrow
will be much happier.
Thursday 11/3 * Moon in Sagittarius 5:55 am. Big change from yesterday - The
life giving Sun past gloomy Saturn, and Moon in the party sign of Sagittarius.
These two days of Moon in Sag give us a kind of preview of the Sun in Sag
holiday season from Thanksgiving to the solstice. We have all kinds of big plans
when the Moon meets Mercury in the sign of expansion at 2:40 pm.
Friday 11/4 * Moon in Sagittarius. More emotionally intense than yesterday,
especially in the later evening around 10:00 pm, but still positive. After 12:30
pm we will be much more physical so exercise off the week's stresses tonight to
start the weekend.
Saturday 11/5 * Moon in Sag, into Capricorn 10:15 am; Mercury square Uranus;
Venus into Capricorn. Capricorn is the sign of accomplishment and with Mercury
square Uranus we'll think outside the box. Read over or even try the astro love
strategies above around 11:05 am when Moon meets the Lady Venus in the sign of
Capricorn, where hard work and proof of long lasting affection give results.
Sunday 11/6 * Moon in Capricorn, Sun square Neptune, Sun opposite Mars. Mars is
the warrior, currently not full strength but still capable of a punch. Neptune
is the dreamer. Today the Sun faces off with warrior Mars while at odds with our
idealized reality. Translation: beware fighting windmills a la Don Quixote.
Positive visions of this energy: a movie with some fight, music with an edge,
exercise near the ocean.
Have a stellar week!
Peace and love,
Jonathan Pearl

Wandering Stars - the planets
Mercury * in Sagittarius. The messenger is playing the part of the big guy and
is a bit out of his league. We ignore facts and data and jump to the big
conclusions. Still our minds are overall happy and have good intentions so we
get away with this some of the time. Our minds, communication and learning
expand and go into new territory. We have more... and more... to say.
***Mercury retrograde alert!*** Mercury
retrogrades 11/13 and turns direct on December 12/3.
Venus * in Sagittarius, entering Capricorn on 11/5. Venus in Sagittarius is a
love of exploring and finding new ways of pleasure and enjoyment - new people
too. The love of the party wants to lighten up, go shopping and have a good
time. Foreign things -movies, music, art, food, cultures (and yes people again)
all attract. Venus in Sagittarius through November 5.
Mars * in Taurus. Now retrograde, so we are feeling Mars more internally. This
can mean that we're extra self driven at best and more frustrated or angry at
our selves at worst. Whatever Mars connects to in our personal charts gets put
on hold until direct motion on December 9. Mars in Taurus until February 06.
Jupiter * in Scorpio. Jupiter entering Scorpio blesses therapies, healing
modalities, joint finance arrangements and amplifies our sexuality. Jupiter
wants to do good, but in Scorpio functions by responding to others with some
kind of attack. The energy: This might hurt, but it is for your own good and my
own protection! Great regeneration and power is possible if we find the positive
side of our deepest emotions. Jupiter here also benefits Aquarius (by antiscia)
and sister water signs of Cancer and Pisces. Jupiter in Scorpio through November
2006.
Saturn * in Leo. Essential challenge to self expression. Color feels a bit much;
we prefer black. The people revolt against the leaders. Anti-authoritarianism in
many guises. A positive vision of this energy: we know the work we need to do
and do it. Saturn in Leo September 2007.
Dragon's Head * in Aries. We gain by new adventures and physical vigor, yet are
more prone to hostility.
Dragon's Tail * in Libra. We fear loss in relationships. Art explores the
unseen.
