Dear friends,
Like Aslan in Narnia, Jupiter is on the move. What is Jupiter? Outer prosperity
like the raise, more customers, a better job, good conditions in general - and
inner improvements of learning and all ways we benefit from teachers. Jupiter
enriches our life - for some that means the BMW, for others the essential
teachings, and if your Jupiter is really strong maybe you get both!
Jupiter has been on half strength for quite a while. While in Libra from
September 04 to October 05 Jupiter was sapped by the South node, and since in
Scorpio from October 05 Jupiter has been squared by limiting Saturn. From now
until Jupiter retrograde in early March Jupiter finally has free reign. This
means: go for the raise, the new business plan, the new job; reconnect with
learning, teachers and all kinds of improvements. The going is easier for all of
these now. Yet like all things, this won't last; the square from Saturn will
repeat in early summer 06 and once more in autumn 06.
As part of this auspicious time I'm pleased to announce two tele-classes for

Jupiter may be on the move, but Venus is about to do the opposite - move
backwards, that is. Like all planets other than the Sun and Moon, Venus goes
retrograde from time to time. Like the week before Mercury Rx sends everyone in
a communication tizzy, the time before Venus Rx increases our desire energy.
Why? Because Venus is closer to the earth now then at any other time. Literally
the goddess of love, pleasure and beauty is closer to us - coming closest on
January 13th 2006.
Closer doesn't always mean better. Like Mercury Rx gets everyone buying
computers at just the wrong time, traditional myths warn of misplaced desires
during this cycle. For more information on the Mayan take on this I recommend
this article by Bruce Scofield:
http://tinyurl.com/ca29s
Let's apply this to our current situation. Venus
has just entered Aquarius, so desires to connect to humanity and pleasures in
knowledge are at their peak. She turns backwards on December 24, and like
Mercury changes people's minds all of a sudden we're desiring differently. Then
on January 2nd Venus moves back into Capricorn where she'll be until turning
direct on February 3. For the first week we'll want love with friends; but what
might Venus retrograde in accomplishment Capricorn make us feel like
doing? Working round the clock, buying real estate, establish a long term
investment strategy or getting married. While Venus in Capricorn is a good time
to experience the pleasure of achievement, I'd recommend holding off on the
real estate and especially the marriage. Why? Because when Venus turns direct,
desires change.
Venus retrograde is tougher than Mercury. We can laugh of the changes in plan
and tech crashes even if they are a hassle. And 3 weeks to wait for the new
computer - that's OK, most people can wait 3 weeks. But Venus leads us on with
desires. But I *waannnt* it. Now. This is why the Mayans reminded themselves
through myth. The time of Venus retrograde was a time of indiscretion. The wise
wait. Or at least they know that desires consummated during this time are not likely
to last.

www.astro.com for current planet positions in your location. See below for
comments on other visible planets.
The Sun and Moon together set the tone of the time. The Sun is our fundamental
orientation for the month; Moon signs and aspects are the energetic pulls of the
day, and tell us how we approach the truth of the Sun. Planet aspects influence
the energies for several days and sometimes weeks before and after the aspect
depending on the planets involved.
Sun * in Sagittarius, entering Capricorn. We're now at the last few days of
Sagittarius. Are you shopped, feasted, boozed, holidazed out now? Good, because
then we can appreciate the merits of Capricorn, the sign of bum rap. If it
weren't for the limits in Capricorn, we'd have to keep up this Sag party
forever. I'm ready for some austerity. Capricorn (in the northern hemisphere) is
the birth of the year. We naturally sense beginnings and want to get off our
year to a good start. Why wait til Jan 1? Capricorn energy begins on December
21. Our focus turns from free-for-all to cutting back, setting limits with long
term goals in mind, and serious accomplishments. The traps of Cap - scarcity
mentality, fear based action, 'I'm not good' enough even after great success and
acclaim.
Moon * days 19 - 25 (new Moon is day 1). Last Quarter Moon in Libra on Friday
12/23.
Monday 12/19 * Moon in Leo. With Jupiter now past Saturn, we have a day of
enjoying the play of the holidays and gift-giving even though we know we're
about ready to be done with it all. We're thinking of others we love midday, and
enjoy something out of routine tonight.
Tuesday 12/20 * Moon in Leo, into Virgo at 6:40 pm, Mercury trine Saturn. Though
Capricorn means the Sun and thus light and energy and low, we have strong energy
midday for a push of whatever we need to secure. Moon into Virgo is clean and
purity in time for the solstice tomorrow morning. Our minds are on high octane
(on royal star Antares) and today and tomorrow are interested by elders and
anything old: luxuries (aged wine), traditional games (chess, Go) and books &
stories (Narnia, anything dated by century instead of year.)
Wednesday 12/21 * Moon in Virgo, Sun into Capricorn 10:35 am. Welcome to winter
and the true start of the year! Like Sun into Cancer, Sun into Capricorn is a
sacred time. The Sun 'dies' and then in 3 days time we notice that light is
increasing and has actually been reborn. These 3 days is a time to find our
inner light and purpose. For this reason Christmas for many centuries was not
just about shopping! With Moon in Virgo, we celebrate with a purification
ritual. We have lots of physical accomplishment energy all morning and into
early afternoon, then become more interested in learning something new. Tonight
we're feeling good about all the details, but true wisdom sends us deeper.
Thursday 12/22 * Moon in Virgo. A quieter day than yesterday with fewer Moon
aspects driving the tides, but the evening may bring up some of the emotional
dramas of Thursday 12/15.
Friday 12/23 * Moon in Libra 7:25 am, Last Quarter Moon at 11:35 am. Our focus
of Capricorn wants serious accomplishment; our emotional need of Moon says what
about relationships? These can be balanced with maturity and commitment. Devote
the morning to new pleasures with Moon trine a close to earth Venus (see above)
exact at 10:20 am. If you must work, bring chocolate.
Saturday 12/24 * Moon in Libra, Venus retrograde. Like Mars turning backwards
took our star athlete off the field, Venus changing direction alters our desire
energy. Women in general are pulling back, yet intensification of desire and
pleasure can lead to short term loves, especially with people from your past.
Essentially, hook up with old friends and don't expect anything to last past
February 3. Minds are entranced by music and alcohol tonight - if you fly high
on champagne tonight is far better to party than 1/31.
Sunday 12/25 * Moon in Libra, into Scorpio 6:05 pm. With Moon in Libra and Venus
just Rx, we'll be feeling our relationships, lack thereof, or perhaps a pending
shift in status. Relationships include romantic ones but are not limited to
these; we have need for interaction but with Venus Rx the ways we go about this
are different and more internal. With Venus in Aquarius, we have both new
possibilities and old friends. Happy re-birth of the Sun! One of my favorite
snippets from the Fated Sky (book review here) was that the 3 wise-men who found
Jesus because they were guided by a star were, no doubt about it, astrologers!
Have a stellar week!
Peace and love,
Jonathan Pearl

Wandering Stars - the planets
Mercury * in Sagittarius. Mercury into Sagittarius means the little guy is doing
too much thinking, learning, talking and shopping. But at least we're enjoying
it in a scattershot way. Mercury in Sagittarius through January 3 2006.
Venus * in Aquarius. Venus in Aquarius means fresh ideas in attraction, romance
and relationships. We retain a certain independence with Venus in the sign of
humanity, but as long as we're not boxed in Venus can maintain long term love
here. Venus in Aquarius through December 31, then back into Capricorn.
*** Venus retrograde alert! *** Venus starts movement backwards on December 24.
Just like Mercury Rx means don't buy new computers, Venus Rx means postpone
those luxury purchases. With Venus in Aquarius, this means put off the luxury
technology that you don't really need. When Venus re-enters in serious
Capricorn, don't be in a rush to buy stocks or real estate either. And most
important: don't get married! Short term trysts, as long as you can negotiate
the consequences, can warm up winter. Venus direct on February 2 2006.
Mars * in Taurus. Now direct, so forward energy in all battles. We resume
exercise and our pursuits of Taurean pleasures and security are back into gear.
Mars moving to square Saturn means we're willing to take on and fight the
authorities that are getting in our way. Mars in Taurus until February 06.
Jupiter * in Scorpio. Jupiter in Scorpio blesses therapies, healing modalities,
joint finance arrangements and amplifies our sexuality. Jupiter wants to do
good, but in Scorpio functions by responding to others with some kind of attack.
The energy: This might hurt, but it is for your own good and my own protection!
Great regeneration and power is possible if we find the positive side of our
deepest emotions. Jupiter here also benefits Aquarius (by antiscion) and sister
water signs of Cancer and Pisces. Jupiter in Scorpio through November 2006.
Saturn * in Leo. Now retrograde, so developments in some long term structures in
life are on hold. Essential challenge to self expression. Color feels a bit
much; we prefer black. The people revolt against the leaders.
Anti-authoritarianism in many guises. A positive vision of this energy: we know
the work we need to do and do it. Saturn in Leo September 2007.
Dragon's Head * in Aries. We gain by new adventures and physical vigor, yet are
more prone to hostility.
