~ breaking through to the other side ~

Last week a friend wrote back about the comment on the Venus Pluto square of the weekend: "but when is it going to get easier?" The square has already passed, but the queen of all flowers, the rose, reminds us that love always comes with thorns. Yet at times we have the chance to bust out of the box, leap out of the rut, experience a completely different feeling than we are accustomed. This experience can re-organize our inner world. It may not last, but at least we know - I can feel like that! Let's at least set up the conditions to make it happen again.

This week we live through one of the most coveted of all aspects in astrology, a grand trine between Mars, Jupiter and Uranus. These three planets in the water signs of Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces respectively mean we all have the chance to feel something very different than the usual. My advice: grease the wheels, cooperate with the harmonious (this time) heavens, don't let this pass you by in usual routine.

Whatever opens your body & mind, positively shocks your system into a new sense of yourself, go for it. Music, art, yoga and other body enhancers, trance dancing, plant aids if you like ~ combine movement and catharsis and innovation and wisdom and you get breakthrough. Tuesday morning (here in CA) and Thursday night are most potent. A short column this time because I'm off to shave my brain!

The Sun and Moon together set the tone of the time. The Sun is our fundamental orientation for the month; Moon signs and aspects are the energetic pulls of the day, and tell us how we approach the truth of the Sun. Planet aspects influence the energies for several days and sometimes weeks before and after the aspect depending on the planets involved.

Sun * in Taurus. Sun in Taurus means our rush to adventure slows as we focus on safety, material riches and pleasure. The Taurus bull isn't much for scrambling over new heights; he'd rather have his hay and cozy up in the green pasture that he knows. May Day is the classic Taurus holiday, a celebration of the earth, fertility, all Venusian arts of love. With ruler Venus in Pisces, what brings us riches may be the arts, spirituality and giving. The trap of Taurus - too set in ways.

Moon * days 5 - 11 with New Moon in Taurus on Thursday.  

Monday 5/1 * Moon in Cancer 8:15 am. Our attention turns within and as the day goes on we want to move with our mood. Some will be active round the home, ie baking as therapy, others will jog on the beach, and lovers may stay up into the wee hours.

Tuesday 5/2 * Moon in Cancer. The Earth's star transmitter the Moon pulls down the Jupiter-Uranus trine (describe in column above). If working, expect great insights, bold new plans and the very least inspired revisions. I suggest utilizing free hours to break out of everyday limiting emotions - easier this week than most in the year. We may be mentally driven but don't let business fixations prevent taking some free time for inner revolution.

Wednesday 5/3 * Moon in Cancer, into Leo 5:20 pm, Venus into Aries. Fresh starts in love. The accepting & love all nature of Venus in Pisces is now after new pleasures and her own satisfactions. If she hasn't been getting as much as she wants she'll hit the road to find some. Moon into Leo will bring action to what we've discovered inside the last two days, but wait, tomorrow is the better day.

Thursday 5/4 * Moon in Leo, Sun opposite Jupiter, Jupiter trine Uranus. You will feel something in the air, like you are on the way to a concert you've been wanting to see for months and the big crowd around you feels the same way. A day when revolutionaries and their revolutions are born.

Friday 5/5 * Moon in Leo, Mercury into Taurus. After all the electric cackle of yesterday, today we return to earth: how much am I making, what is my net worth (or lack thereof)?

Saturday 5/6 * Moon in Virgo. It's too bad astrology calendars are not as common, because if they were everyone would know to have their parties on Thursday night instead of tonight! While two thirds of a grand trine isn't bad, Moon in Virgo makes our mood more purification than party.

Sunday 5/7 * Moon in Virgo, Mars trine Jupiter, Mars trine Uranus, Venus trine Saturn, Mercury square Saturn. We may not have as many planet beyond the Moon aspects in one day all year - most of them harmonious but watch the mind's tendency to diss the amazing things that will be happening. If earlier in the week on Tuesday and Thursday we experienced some sudden notable inner breakthrough, today we go about it more systematically.

Wandering Stars - the planets

Mercury * in Aries, moving into Taurus on Friday. The messenger mind is back! After an extended vacation stay in ocean Pisces, Mercury is back up to speedy tricks. Move forward, get going, now! Our to do is check check checked. The downside of Mercury in Aries is impetuous mind. Mercury in Aries through May 5. Mercury in Taurus puts our minds on money, so that we can enjoy pleasures, so that we can have love. Mercury in Taurus through May 19.

Venus * in Pisces, into Aries on Wednesday. Venus into Aries brings fresh energy into desire and love. I want what I want and I want it now! The downside - love takes two, and we don't think as much of the other with Venus in the sign of moi. Venus in Aries through through May 29.

Mars * in Cancer. Men, embrace your inner Martha - cook, garden, light up the BBQ. After 7 weeks of extra thinking and curiosity, we are now driven by our feelings, nurturing, food and family but all in a Mars kind of way. Pass the hot sauce, cathart, move vigorously in or near water. With mutual reception to Jupiter in Scorpio, we have the best side of Mars in Cancer. Mars in Cancer through June 3.   

Jupiter * in Scorpio. Now retrograde, so some prosperity on hold while we pursue inner wisdom and riches. Jupiter in Scorpio blesses therapies, healing modalities, joint finance arrangements and amplifies our sexuality. Jupiter wants to do good, but in Scorpio functions by responding to others with some kind of attack. The energy: This might hurt, but it is for your own good and my own protection! Great regeneration and power is possible if we find the positive side of our deepest emotions. Jupiter here also benefits Aquarius (by antiscion) and sister water signs of Cancer and Pisces. Jupiter in Scorpio through November 2006.

Saturn * in Leo. Now direct, so developments in some long term structures in life get moving again. Essential challenge to self expression. Color feels a bit much; we prefer black. The people revolt against the leaders. Anti-authoritarianism in many guises. A positive vision of this energy: we know the work we need to do and do it. Saturn in Leo September 2007. 

Dragon's Head * in Aries. We gain by new adventures and physical vigor, yet are more prone to hostility. Ruler Mars in Cancer means we advance by ways we take charge of emotions, protect family, improve the house, and learn to cook. 

Dragon's Tail * in Libra. Relationships seem troubled by unseen or past murkiness. Art explores the unseen. Ruler Venus in Pisces means past relationships are quite positive; Venus into Aries means these same past relationships will get a what's in it for me spin.
