Star Pearls 6*19*06

What's all the heaviness?
Star*Watch

Straight to the Moon
Wandering Stars

Dear friends,

Tough week anyone? In the space of 7 days, 3 planets are making hard aspects to Saturn. Thankfully 2 are down so just 1 to go. Last week our pleasure and love were muted (Venus conjunct Saturn by mirror point), but already the Taurus ahhs in the skin have begun to sound. On Saturday our confidence and zest may have been squashed (the rough Mars conjunct Saturn), but now we can get on with the show. What is our last test coming this Thursday? Oh just our sense of optimism, faith and happiness.

This week plucky Jupiter is limited by a square aspect to Old Man No, so we'll sense more of the have to's, work hard's and should's as we wonder what happened to all our possibilities for good. This aspect happens 3 times (Dec 05, June 06 and last pass October 06) but this one is the hardest. Quite literally the force of optimism is retreating while the force of poverty, hard work and consequences moves ahead. Has our luck ran out? Have we made that mistake one too many times? Where is our faith in beneficence? Easy to fall prey to such gloominess this week.

How to keep our faith when it is under siege? We can go where the energy is good. Venus is in Taurus through Friday so cultivate some in-the-body pleasure. And Mars in Leo now past Saturn has lots to enjoy - luxuries, men's fashion, sports, rock-n-roll, fast cars, skydiving. Whether its the way of Venus chocolate or Mars roller-blading or both, get those endorphins pumping. And look forward to Jupiter direct in early July.

Now going deeper for the astrology literate. What is the strongest aspect? Is it an opposition? A square? A grand trine? Oh, I've got it, a grand cross! No, all wrong. The strongest aspect is any aspect to a planet within 1 week of its station retrograde. When planets station Rx they are 3 times more powerful than usual, so it only makes sense that other planets aspecting are 3 times more affected. Sextile, square, trine matters not in comparison. Following this line of thinking, the next strongest aspect is any aspect to a planet within 1 week of its station direct. This is when a planet is twice as strong as usual, so any aspects will be similarly emphasized. For all modern astrology's work with aspects, I have never heard this idea stated in this way. To those who know their way around a chart, it works, yes?

Star*Watch - More info here.

Sun * in Gemini, entering Cancer on Wednesday. Messenger Mercury led the way into the sign of emotions a few weeks ago; now our essential life force orientation follows into the sign of deep. Thoughts and chatter won't matter as much - what are we feeling inside? What are we sensing from outside? With Sun in Cancer we pay more attention to our internal processes.  We want genuine bonds or none at all. We eat well, enjoy nature's bounty and are entertained by flowers and birds. The trap of the crab - too many grouchy feelings! The Sun also has a special influence on Sundays, Wednesday nights and all Sun hours. For planetary days and hours at your location (highly recommended!), download freeware from ChronosXP.

Monday 6/19 * Moon in Aries, Uranus retrograde. Have you caught football fever yet? With tackling Mars past Saturn in Leo, all kinds of sports will appeal - the flashier the better. Whatever your game, Moon in Aries means more motion. Uranus station means some of the frenzy of the past few days will subside; but if you had significant forward motion in some area of life take note, this shall eventually return.

Tuesday 6/20 * Moon in Aries, into Taurus 3:20 pm. Taurus Moon puts our mood on pleasure, but today we take care not to lose our heads in pursuit of our desires.

Wednesday 6/21 * Sun in Cancer, Moon in Taurus. A delightful combination for the Sun and Moon that emphasizes the body-feeling-mind connection. The Sun stands still in the source of life so here's a solstice ritual idea: do something to protect life on earth.

Thursday 6/22 * Moon in Taurus, into Gemini 7:50 pm, Jupiter square Saturn, and the Nodes change signs. You may sense something important today, a feeling of marker milestone. As noted above though, easy to fall into pessimism, poverty consciousness, just taking the hard facts and overlooking the boundless possibilities for wisdom and benefit. An evening for your favorite organic foods with Queen Moon meeting up with Lady Venus right around dinnertime. More on the nodes in the next column.

Friday 6/23 * Moon in Gemini, Venus into Gemini. Venus doesn't have the same traditional dignity in the thinking Twins as she did in the pleasure Bull, but the combo of a flirty Venus and bragging Mars is a good one for romance sparks. For those after Mars athletics will appeal; for those seeking Venus it's all about smarts.

Saturday 6/24 * Dark of the Moon in Gemini. The last day of the Moon cycle is letting go time, and especially so in Moon ruled Cancer season. Write down what needs to go & burn it up, send it away, float it in the ocean, whatever symbolically feels right.

Sunday 6/25 * New Moon in Cancer. Both lights in sensing Cancer means we go inside more easily now than most other times of year. Whatever you find there, a new Moon close to a new season means fresh approaches to emotion.

Have a stellar week!

Peace and love,
Jonathan Pearl

Wandering Stars - the planets

Mercury * in Cancer. Mercury slows down in the sign of deep. We'll be thinking with our feelings - intuitive, perceptive, more aware of internal processes. Mercury in Cancer through June 28, then back again July 10 through August 10 due to ***retrograde July 4 to July 28.*** Mercury influences Wednesdays, Saturday nights and all Mercury hours.

Venus * in Taurus, entering Gemini on Friday. The lady of enjoyments in the most pleasure oriented of signs. Touch and smells, food and sex are what it's all about. Oh yes, and money, gotta have cash to afford the finer things. Though Venus in her home sign makes some satisfactions reliable, this time aspects to Saturn on June 4 and again and more powerfully on June 16 mean we can experience the painful lack of such pleasures around these dates. Venus in Taurus through June 23. Venus influences Fridays, Monday nights and all Venus hours.

Mars * in Leo. Men and other Mars folks in the sign of the lion - expect cock-sure braggadocio, self-expression, assertions of pride. Planets in Leo like to be noticed, so men will be dressing with flair. Yes we have drama, but the very best of Leo is courage. If someone crosses the lion or doesn't pay proper respects, watch out. Mars in Leo through July 22. Mars influences Tuesdays, Friday nights and all hours of Mars..

Jupiter * in Scorpio. Now retrograde, so some prosperity on hold while we pursue inner wisdom and riches. Jupiter in Scorpio blesses therapies, healing modalities, joint finance arrangements and amplifies our sexuality. Jupiter wants to do good, but in Scorpio functions by responding to others with some kind of attack. The energy: This might hurt, but it is for your own good and my own protection! Great regeneration and power is possible if we find the positive side of our deepest emotions. Jupiter here also benefits Aquarius (by antiscion) and sister water signs of Cancer and Pisces. Jupiter in Scorpio through November 2006. Jupiter influences Thursdays, Sunday nights and all Jupiter hours.

Saturn * in Leo. Now direct, so developments in some long term structures in life get moving again. Essential challenge to self expression. Color feels a bit much; we prefer black. The people revolt against the leaders. Anti-authoritarianism in many guises. A positive vision of this energy: we know the work we need to do and do it. Saturn in Leo September 2007. Saturn influences Saturdays, Tuesday nights and all Saturn hours.

Dragon's Tail * in Libra, entering Virgo on Thursday.
