Straight to the Moon
Wandering Stars
Dear friends,
I always like to point out
the obvious astrology connected with popular holidays. With the Sun in Gemini we
have Memorial Day weekend, when just about everyone goes out of town. We learned
from Homer's Odyssey that taking short trips is just what the Twins like
to do (column here).
Now with Sun in Cancer we have the 4th of July, a holiday as much about the
typical Cancerian picnic and family get together as the USA.
But the most universal celebration doesn't take
place in a specific month. Just about everyone everywhere acknowledges their
birthday, which is when the Sun returns to the position it was at birth.
Astronomical reality means astrological truth. We feel magnificent around our
birthdays because the light is shining right on us.
But have you ever felt that the lead-up to the big
day was more exciting than the day itself? Sometimes letdowns just happen, but
this may be explained by the exact timing of the solar return. Due to the
earth's movement usually the true astrological birth moment is earlier than our
actual birthtime, and sometimes even a whole day ahead. I just celebrated a
birthday over the weekend, and the solar return moment was a day before the
numerical birthday. Perhaps this is because I'm aware of the energies, but the
solar return day felt like the real party. There's a bright side - a
great excuse for two cakes! :)
Now going deeper for the astrology literate, but
even if you aren't fully versed this is an easier one to follow. Last week we
all experienced a significant change, yet barely any other astrology column or
website will mention it. In my book it is as important as Saturn changing signs
if not more. What happened? The North node of the Moon moved from Aries into
Pisces, and simultaneously the South node moved from Libra to Virgo. I've
written about the Nodes in other columns but for new readers here are two quick
comments. In Indian astrology they are viewed as powerful as planets if not more
so (and I agree); and a respected Western astrologer of 35 years says they are
as important as the Sun and Moon (again agree). Yet they remain hidden and out
of sight from most calendars and commentaries in modern Western astro.
The North node amplifies, the South node dilutes.
So at the very basic level, the past year and a half we have upped Aries energy
and been compulsively independent and pioneering as we pursued new
adventures and vigorous actions. And governments have been starting wars and
building bombs. Now where we are going is Pisces - towards peace, arts,
spirituality, connectedness. Our solitary adventures no longer appeal. We gotta
get high (sugar wine music dancing sitting love) one way or another. No room for war
in Pisces, so I'm glad to already see stories on troop reductions in Iraq.
The past year and a half of South node in Libra,
particularly so in 2005, may have given unexplained lack of energy in all
relationships. Good ones didn't seem as good, others were non-existent. Surely
some individual charts will have other things happening, so this period might
have brought wonderful experiences in partnerships for many. But the South node
has a diminishing quality so I'm sure at least some of you can agree - the last
year and a half was just not the same for romance and love. With the South node
now in Virgo, it is our detail oriented perfectionist nature that is now a bit
confused. What am I do with all these emails? I used to handle them before, now
I'm tempted to trash the lot! Everything in order, who has time? Strip the
details and let's make more time to meditate.
When we look to the mirror point system of
antiscia things get even more interesting. The mirror point of the North node is
in Libra, and the mirror point of the South node is in Aries. So these signs
have done a double flip flop! Libra relationships have gone from addled to amped
up, and independent Aries adventures have gone from the true calling to oh so
unenlightened.
With the North node in Pisces and mirror point in
Libra, the next year and a half is about spiritual evolution in partnerships.
Normally I shy away from such new-agey language but this time it's really true.
With the right partner our lives get better. How to tell who's right for you?
I'll address this in a future Star Pearls.

Star*Watch - More info here.
Sun * in Cancer. Messenger Mercury led the way into the sign of
emotions a few weeks ago; now our essential life force orientation follows into
the sign of deep. Thoughts and chatter won't matter as much - what are we
feeling inside? What are we sensing from outside? With Sun in Cancer we pay more
attention to our internal processes. We want genuine bonds or none at all. We
eat well, enjoy nature's bounty and are entertained by flowers and birds. The
trap of the crab - too many grouchy feelings! The Sun also has a special influence on Sundays, Wednesday nights and all Sun
hours. For planetary days and hours at your location (highly recommended!),

ChronosXP.
Moon * New on 6/25, heading towards First quarter on Monday 7/3.
Monday 6/26 * Moon in Cancer. With Sun in Cancer we pay
special attention to Queen Moon. First the phases: How did you feel on Saturday
night 6/24, dark of the Moon? Did you notice endings & low energy? Compare this
to Sunday after the new Moon - more hopeful, sensing fresh beginnings? Now you
know - you'll experience a dark of the Moon and new Moon once a month for your
entire life. Now watch the fresh energy before the 1st quarter, the action of
the the 2nd quarter, the unbounded potential and charge of Full Moon, the
sharing energy of the 3rd quarter, the letting go of 4th quarter. Along with the
phases watch the signs - as regular readers know the Moon travels through the
whole zodiac once a month. After that aspects. And if you are really astro
curious compare the Moon to your own birth chart. Just watch what happens and
learn.
Tuesday 6/27 * Moon in Cancer, into Leo 10:10 am.
The Cancer Leo combo is a special one. Our orientation is on the insides, and
our insides can feel glorious. We are especially intuitive today. Mercury soon
to station in Cancer - our mind is so sensitive. We pick up on thoughts of
others like hearing voices across a lake. What is far away is oh so close.
Wednesday 6/28 * Moon in Leo, Mercury into Leo. A
more vigorous day as Moon moves towards action Mars all day. Our minds go from
depth to show, from feelings to action, from quiet to bold. Watch colorful self
expression in communication and me-me-me in conversation. Mercury Rx coming up,
so back up computers now.
Thursday 6/29 * Moon in Leo, into Virgo 9:15 pm.
Less charged than Wednesday but still positive. We love to flirt in
relationships. If you love someone, let them know!
Friday 6/30 * Moon in Virgo, Sun trine Jupiter.
Virgo Moon are productive and Sun connecting to Santa Jupiter has us thinking
big. With Jupiter traveling backwards in his sleigh and held up by bad weather
to boot, we may not be thinking as big as we possibly can, but still compared to
recent energies this will be a vast improvement.
Saturday 7/1 * Moon in Virgo. Whoever takes the
time to watch the Moon knows Virgo is good for getting things done. But Mercury
is stationing in Leo, and what we want to do is shine and have the world adore
us! A good day for self promotion.
Sunday 7/2 * Moon in Libra 10:05 am, Venus sextile
Saturn. Today is all about partnerships. A part of us wants freedom to explore,
another the stability of long term. The best relationships allow for both at
least to some extent. A first step: keep the communication fresh and lively with
your lover.
Have a stellar week!
Peace and love,
Jonathan Pearl

Wandering Stars - the planets
Mercury * in Cancer, entering Leo. Mercury slows down in the sign of deep. We'll be
thinking with our feelings - intuitive, perceptive, more aware of internal
processes. Then for a few days we have Mercury roaring in Leo, sign of bold,
gold and me-me-me. Mercury back in Cancer July 10 through
August 10 due to ***retrograde July 4 to July 28.*** Mercury influences Wednesdays, Saturday nights
and all Mercury hours.
Venus * in Gemini. We talk it up, love to read, and want a
partner whose mind we can love. Venus in Gemini finds romance in bookstores,
short trips here and there and most of all, love talk. Venus in Gemini through
July 18.
Mars * in Leo. Men and other Mars folks in the sign of the lion - expect cock-sure braggadocio,
self-expression, assertions of pride. Planets in Leo like to be noticed, so men
will be dressing with flair. Yes we have drama, but the very best of Leo is
courage. If someone crosses the lion or doesn't pay proper respects, watch out. Mars in Leo through July 22. Mars
influences Tuesdays, Friday nights and all hours of Mars..
Jupiter * in Scorpio. Now retrograde, so some prosperity on
hold while we pursue inner wisdom and riches. Jupiter in Scorpio blesses therapies, healing modalities,
joint finance arrangements and amplifies our sexuality. Jupiter wants to do
good, but in Scorpio functions by responding to others with some kind of attack.
The energy: This might hurt, but it is for your own good and my own protection!
Great regeneration and power is possible if we find the positive side of our
deepest emotions. Jupiter here also benefits Aquarius (by antiscion) and sister
water signs of Cancer and Pisces. Jupiter in Scorpio through November 2006.
Jupiter influences Thursdays, Sunday nights and all Jupiter hours.
Saturn * in Leo. Now direct, so developments in some long term structures in
life get moving again. Essential challenge to self expression. Color feels a bit
much; we prefer black. The people revolt against the leaders.
Anti-authoritarianism in many guises. A positive vision of this energy: we know
the work we need to do and do it. Saturn in Leo September 2007. Saturn
influences Saturdays, Tuesday nights and all Saturn hours.
Dragon's Head * in Pisces. We advance towards peace, arts and spirituality, and
partnerships are also a must. Without the sweet embrace of love, substitutes can
be not just an occasional indulgence but a routine.
Dragon's Tail * in Virgo. As placements go, this is a bit tough. The Dragon's
Tail is like the tai-chi master doing quiet movements but little else. How does
this function in the sign of accomplishment through detail & perfection? We let
go of ways we are unnecessarily restrictive. Hard work is a virtue, but unless
guided by a Pisces wholeness will never bring us true peace.
