Straight to the Moon
Wandering Stars
Dear friends,
In some ways astrology is
the study of continuity: I act this way because of my Sun in Leo, I feel this
way because of my Moon in Virgo. But in other ways astrology is the study of
change. Our feelings change all the time with the Moon. Our thinking is just
slightly more stable with Mercury. Our Venus desires also change, but generally
we tend to want the same types of things over time. Our action is often very
regular with the Sun from day to day. Our Mars pursuits are generally more
entrenched - how could we really go after something if it was different all the
time? All the energy of our feelings, thoughts, desires, action and drives
combined create long lasting Jupiter opportunities and benefits. And our Saturn
fears and areas of life that don't come easy - these tend to deeply stick.
Beyond these 7 visible planets are the 3 outer
planets of Uranus, Neptune and Pluto (for astrologers there is no debate on
status). The outers are notorious for change, but because they move so slowly
most of the time effects aren't much noticed. But when they land on a personal
planet or point in the chart, you will notice!
Regular readers know I also include the nodes of
the Moon as extremely potent points, just as Indian astrologers do. Currently
the North node is in Pisces and South node in Virgo, so when the Sun enters
Virgo this week we'll be in one of the two eclipse months of the year - what I
like to call "change season."
This year change season is especially dramatic
because Pluto, one of the most potent planets of change, is in aspect with the
South node, another strong change point. We're getting a taste of this as Mars
approaches the South node on August 31st; and another dose with the Sun hitting
this point on September 19th and then on into the solar eclipse on September
22nd.
Whatever Mars and the Sun represent is now given a
kind of blank slate with potential for a big shake up. Not everything will
change for every person, but it will be easy for at least some areas of life to
re-arrange. OK, you want to know, what is going to happen?! This answer depends
on Mars and the Sun in your chart. If the Sun rules the 2nd house of finances,
maybe the way you make money will change. Many relationships will change simply
because Mars and the Sun are two key masculine planets, often representing men
in women's lives. Yet if a relationship is solid, maybe one partner goes on a
trip or seems less available around those days than usual.
As an astrologer I can say this: if you sense in
coming weeks that some area of your life needs to go in order for something else
to happen - like clearing the remnants of old plants before planting new ones -
then this coming month is the time to do it!

Like watching the stock market? Last night, many
hours before the market opened, I wrote and posted online "watch for down after
1:00 pm" and "3:31 pm another significant high." Turned out highs for the day
were 1:05 and 3:30! My QuickTrader service for daytraders and professionals is

Sun * in Leo, entering Virgo. With the Sun in Leo we like to celebrate our
glorious selves, but with the Sun entering the sign of purity we will want to
clean inside and out, toss the trash, shape up and get something done.
This year with Mercury traveling alongside the Sun we have the very best of
Virgo. The usual catch of Virgin energy: too much criticism! The Sun also has a special influence on Sundays, Wednesday nights and all Sun
hours. For planetary days and hours at your location (highly recommended!),

Moon * New Moon in Virgo on Wednesday 8/23.
Monday 8/21 * Moon in Leo, Mercury opposite Neptune. The Moon is dark but still
this is one of the grandest days of them all with 5 of 7 visible planets in Leo!
In ancient times, king and queens would surely have been born; today probably a
few of the next generation of big time movers and shakers. With Moon moving
towards Venus all evening, a night for your finest and loveliest pleasures.
Tuesday 8/22 * Moon in Leo, Venus square Jupiter,
Sun into Virgo late. Last day of the Moon cycle often means letting go, but with
5 planets in Leo we'll be much more assertive. Sun on royal star of summer
Regulus, heart of the Lion, and this means we have a cue to take our lives up a
notch.
Wednesday 8/23 * Moon in Virgo 11:10 am, New Moon
at 12:10 pm. Today we'll wake with a new action plan. Step #1 - clean up! Step
#2 comes bigger and better with completion of Step #1! It's true - Virgo thrives
on purity and when the environment is harmonious and the body is smooth working
order then it can get more accomplished easily than almost any other sign.
Capricorn might work harder, but Virgo works smarter.
Thursday 8/24 * Moon in Virgo, Mercury trine
Pluto. If you are starting your Virgo clean out, today start with paperwork and
the computer. If your mind is keeping you busy on your to-do list 24/7, vigorous
exercise tonight will help sleep.
Friday 8/25 * Moon in Virgo. With Moon in Virgo
and Venus not feeling her warm oozy self, today is not a night for sizzling
romance. Stay in and get something done, visit older family or friends or some
variety on the theme of older pleasures is probably your best option.
Saturday 8/26 * Moon in Libra, Venus conjunct
Saturn. Libra emphasizes relationships, but with Venus meeting old man Saturn it
will be the difficulty, lack of warmth, fear around love or simply confusion
about where thing stand that may be most prominent. Relationships whose time has
come may end; yet particularly solid long lasting couples can celebrate another
ring on the tree. Noir movies and period pieces as well as older arts and music
also attract.
Sunday 8/27 * Moon in Libra, Venus opposite
Neptune, Mercury into Virgo. Mercury in her home sign of Virgo will get the
smarts in gear and assign the tasks to go along with it. Relationships will
breathe a whew as love and desire starts to flow again, that is as much as it
can with our orientation and minds more on improvement than indulgences.
Have a stellar week!
Peace and love,
Jonathan Pearl

Wandering Stars - the planets
Mercury * in Leo, entering Virgo on Sunday 8/27. The ultra
sign for Mercury - our minds can get so much done in the realm of practical
accomplishment. Virgo wants to see the improvement, notice the results. If they
aren't there, we'll criticize until they happen! Mercury in Virgo through
September 12. Mercury is especially active on Wednesdays, Saturday nights and
all hours of Mercury.
Venus * in Leo. Venus in Leo loves to be
noticed, adored and above all, loved. If she's not getting at least some praise,
and better declarations of utter love and commitment for life, then she'll think
something is amiss. And as the story of the lioness a couple columns back
demonstrates, disloyalty is *not* tolerated. Even though Saturn in Leo is
casting a gray cast to the most colorful of signs, still will be more flair in
fashion and gold to boot. Whereas Venus in Cancer may be the subtle rose, Venus
in Leo is the must-be-noticed stargazer lily. Venus sweetens Fridays, Monday
nights and all hours of Venus.
Mars * in Virgo. Drive to accomplish, improve,
purify, but the methods will be wildly imaginative and unpredictable thanks to
opposing Uranus in Pisces. Men in particular will be eating right and extra
health conscious. Mars in Virgo through September 7. Mars has more bang
on Tuesdays, Friday nights and all hours of Mars..
Jupiter * in Scorpio. Now direct, so we see more
outer results of inner work done the past few months. Jupiter in Scorpio blesses therapies, healing modalities,
joint finance arrangements and amplifies our sexuality. Jupiter wants to do
good, but in Scorpio functions by responding to others with some kind of attack.
The energy: This might hurt, but it is for your own good and my own protection!
Great regeneration and power is possible if we find the positive side of our
deepest emotions. Jupiter here also benefits Aquarius (by antiscion) and sister
water signs of Cancer and Pisces. Jupiter in Scorpio through November 2006.
Jupiter blesses Thursdays, Sunday nights and all Jupiter hours.
Saturn * in Leo. Developments in some long term structures in
life are moving forward, but concrete Saturn moving into an opposition with
destabilizing Neptune. This is a major aspect and will set the tone for
everything else later this summer and on into 2007. More in a column coming
soon. Saturn in Leo through September 2007. Saturn
stabilizes Saturdays, Tuesday nights and all Saturn hours.
Dragon's Head * in Pisces. We advance towards peace, arts and spirituality, and
partnerships are also a must. Without the sweet embrace of love, substitutes can
be not just an occasional indulgence but a routine.
Dragon's Tail * in Virgo. As placements go, this is a bit tough. The Dragon's
Tail is like the tai-chi master doing quiet movements but little else. How does
this function in the sign of accomplishment through detail & perfection? We let
go of ways we are unnecessarily restrictive. Hard work is a virtue, but unless
guided by a Pisces wholeness will never bring us true peace.
