Saturn and HP
Star*Watch

Straight to the Moon
Wandering Stars

Dear friends,

Anyone who had read The Fated Sky, a fine history of astrology in the West, knows that  from the Roman Empire to the so-called Enlightenment in the 1700s many kings had astrologers as their most trusted advisors. While it may be naively amusing to imagine such statements as "Pluto is transiting your 3rd house so time to transform your communications," a competently trained astrologer of the day would have been much more factual. "Crops won't do well this year, so better to barter to increase the storehouses before the shortage hits." "Your enemy will attack the northern border in August - be prepared."

These days, of course, we don't really have such kingdoms; we have corporations. And with HP going from the echelon of the BBC to the Enquirer in a matter of weeks, I wanted to see what was happening in their chart. (If fuzzy click again to zoom.)

This is set for noon because I don't know an exact time; this is the equivalent of a doctor trying to figure out what to do with a broken wrist but working with an x-ray of the whole body.

See that Venus right at 20 degrees Leo? Guess when Mr Tough Guy Saturn hit that exact degree and minute? On Sept 23rd! This is all the more significant considering that Saturn takes 29 years to go around the zodiac. True that this scandal has been brewing for many months, but those who know their own Saturn transits are aware that they are times when deep rooted problems come to the fore.

For Saturn transiting Venus in the chart of a person, we could expect difficulties in love and a sense of not being wanted or attractive. Well a similar thing has happen to HP - once a respected darling of the industry, now fodder for comedians. They don't have the status - a Venus in Leo kind of thing - they once did.

True some Saturn transits can be more positive - how do we know when they'll be tough and when they involve greater responsibilities? First of all, a traditional astrologer isn't going to make a judgment based on one transit alone. In my own practice, I'd check out the firdaria period (in a good period a difficult transit might be a minor annoyance; in a bad period a relatively minor transit can cause upheaval); the profected year; the solar return; and other techniques. We can also gather history of past transits.

Most important, we'd want to understand the nature of Saturn in chart itself. This is essential yet overlooked in much of astrology. We see that Saturn in the HP chart is conjunct Pluto and Mercury; this means Saturn transits for HP are likely to be very difficult.

Going back to coming transits, we see that Saturn is approaching to the natal Sun. It is highly likely (as sure as I can get without the exact time,) that the current leadership will be forced to step down. Not only is this a classic meaning of Saturn on Sun, but the last time this transit happened in 1977 (roughly speaking) is when founder Bill Hewlett retired as CEO. And adding to the pressure this time around is that Saturn stations at 25 Leo in early December. From personal experience and working with clients, I can tell you that Saturn stationing on the Sun or Moon is one of the most stressful transits that exists. Saturn exerting his pressure on one particular point for weeks at a time means that point takes body blow after body blow and as far as HP and its Sun is concerned that is not good.

Might companies start to hire astrologers like kings once did? It could happen, but only when more astrologers go public with successful predictions.

Star*Watch - More info here.

Sun * in Libra puts our orientation on art, pleasure, choices and most of all, interaction with others. With ruler Venus now in Libra, simply put we can experience the best of partnerships. The catch of Libra - too many enticing options swinging those scales back and forth. The Sun also has a special influence on Sundays, Wednesday nights and all Sun hours. For planetary days and hours at your location (highly recommended!), download freeware from ChronosXP.

Moon * Full Harvest Moon in Aries on Friday 10/6.

Monday 10/2 * Moon in Aquarius. Aquarius is the sign most interested in wisdom; and with Sun in Libra, we'll want to learn with and from others. Moon moves towards Neptune much of the night so light incense before sleep and enjoy your dreams.

Tuesday 10/3 * Moon in Aquarius, into Pisces 10:35 pm. An all-round positive day where we'll feel the best about our relationships, especially with teachers and mentors. If you are up after the Moon changes sign, watch the movement from intellectual Aquarius to feeling Pisces.

Wednesday 10/4 * Moon in Pisces, Mars trine Neptune. We are called to act on inspired vision today (Mars trine Neptune), but what really moves the day is a special conjunction between Moon and Uranus at 5:20 pm. Yes you can expect the unexpected as usual, but pay particular attention and create the space for innovations, emotional breakthroughs and spiritual insights.

Thursday 10/5 * Moon in Pisces, into Aries 10:30 pm. Though you won't see it on any astrology calendar, this is another day where we'll feel the sense of wide open possibility, especially regarding action, technology and men.

Friday 10/6 * Full Moon in Aries. Tonight's Full Moon is exact at 8:13, so try to get out and see the Moon in her bright young glory. Young? Aries is the first sign, and full Moon in Aries is an instinctual, me first, physical, impromptu energy. Have fun with it!

Saturday 10/7 * Moon in Aries, into Taurus 10:05 pm. Moon in Aries loves new adventures and with ruler Mars in relationship Libra, we'll be charging after other people.

Sunday 10/8 * Moon in Taurus. Another 'best of relationship' Sunday to enjoy pleasures with your partner. Libra likes balance, so take turns giving what they'd most like.

Have a stellar week!

Peace and love,
Jonathan Pearl

Wandering Stars - the planets

Mercury * in Scorpio. Mercury in Scorpio is a deeply penetrating mind. Whatever truth needs uncovering, whatever force of intellect we need to power through, Mercury in Scorpio can do it. Mercury in Scorpio is also very good for talk therapy. Mercury is especially active on Wednesdays, Saturday nights and all hours of Mercury.

*** Mercury Rx alert 10/28 - 11/17 ***

Venus * in Libra. With Venus in Libra, we love interaction and so our partnerships automatically improve. We are more accepting of ourselves and more interested in other people to boot. Venus in Libra also likes harmony, all kinds of beautiful experiences, dialog, and balance in all things. Venus in Libra from September 30 to October 24. Venus sweetens Fridays, Monday nights and all hours of Venus.

Mars * in Libra. Drive towards partnerships, art, pleasure, dialog and options. It is the last part that is the trickiest of Mars in Libra - when it comes time to act we want to just go, not debate about all the choices yet back and forth, forth and back, back and forth. Mars in Libra on September 7 through October 23. Mars has more bang on Tuesdays, Friday nights and all hours of Mars.

Jupiter * in Scorpio. Now direct, so we see more outer results of inner work done the past few months. Jupiter in Scorpio blesses therapies, healing modalities, joint finance arrangements and amplifies our sexuality. Jupiter wants to do good, but in Scorpio functions by responding to others with some kind of attack. The energy: This might hurt, but it is for your own good and my own protection! Great regeneration and power is possible if we find the positive side of our deepest emotions. Jupiter here also benefits Aquarius (by antiscion) and sister water signs of Cancer and Pisces. Jupiter in Scorpio through November 2006. Jupiter blesses Thursdays, Sunday nights and all Jupiter hours.

Saturn * in Leo. Developments in some long term structures in life are moving forward, but concrete Saturn moving into an opposition with destabilizing Neptune. This is a major aspect and will set the tone for everything else later this summer and on into 2007. Saturn in Leo through September 2007. Saturn stabilizes Saturdays, Tuesday nights and all Saturn hours.

Dragon's Head * in Pisces. We advance towards peace, arts and spirituality, and partnerships are also a must. Without the sweet embrace of love, substitutes can be not just an occasional indulgence but a routine.

Dragon's Tail * in Virgo. As placements go, this is a bit tough. The Dragon's Tail is like the tai-chi master doing quiet movements but little else. How does this function in the sign of accomplishment through detail & perfection? We let go of ways we are unnecessarily restrictive. Hard work is a virtue, but unless guided by a Pisces wholeness will never bring us true peace.
