Wandering Stars

Dear friends,

Just like sports fans like to check out the schedule of their team when it is announced at the start of the season, astro buffs scope the big events for the new year. Here's a quick preview:

Astro spec: Saturn continues in Leo through September, then enters Virgo. Saturn is currently retrograde in Leo, opposes Neptune in late February, stations direct at 18 Leo in mid April, then opposes Neptune again in June. Planets from 18-24 Leo are getting the grind but this is assisted by a trine from Jupiter.

English comment: Saturn first opposed Neptune last August, so some themes might repeat. This dynamic is complex (here's an insightful essay by my Bay Area friend and colleague Bill Street) but if your life starts resembling Pan's Labyrinth then you can chalk it up to Saturn-Neptune. Essentially our myths and idealizations continue to take a serious turn - in part from various limitations but on a deeper level because we've realized that alcohol (or sugar or caffeine or whatever) can only take us so high. Then we put our efforts into yoga or spiritual movement, we see our music or art as a path to God and set the alarm early to meditate.

Astro spec: Jupiter is in Sagittarius much of year. It trines Saturn in March and May; squares Uranus in January, May and October; then conjuncts Pluto just before entering Capricorn in December.

English comment: Jupiter in Sag is great, and wherever Sagittarius falls in your chart is getting a boost. If you've got planets or angles there, then a bigger boost. The aspect to Saturn is like getting a bonus bigger than you expected after a year of hard work, but the square to Uranus is more like winning the lottery. January and October are ripe for breakthrough changes that increase your prosperity.

Astro spec: North node continuing in Pisces with South node still in Virgo; North node conjunct Uranus in March at 16 Pisces.

Comment: To my eyes this is the biggest star happening of the year! Conjunctions are the strongest kind of aspect, and the advancing North node meeting benefic genius Uranus will shake things up in a very good way. The Pisces house in your chart is getting the cosmic zap - the kind that may make some pick up and move continents or others break into the fashion world and yet others into suddenly successful authors. With Uranus and North node combined, the potential is literally unlimited but the essence is this: whatever you think the future of life could be at the end of a really, really good day, actually *can be* for Pisces at least in the next few months. I don't just mean Pisces Suns here; but wherever the house of Pisces lands in your chart. If you know basic meaning of houses, just check where Pisces falls be open to whatever life is dropping in your lap in March because it will probably be good. If you don't know meanings of houses and want to know, then consult an astrologer! And if you have planets or angles near 16 Pisces, then these get the most zip from the zap.

Got questions? A new feature of Star*Pearls will feature real life questions and responses in plain English and then in astro lingo for the star-heads. Send in your queries and birth data and I'll write up few each month. Names will be changed but I'll be posting charts so please only submit if you are OK with this.

I'll be talking on my fave topic 'Homer's Odyssey Through the Zodiac' at the January meeting of the San Francisco Astrological Society on 1/25/07. Their website will soon be updated with info.

Real astrology gives accurate information. Here are two recent testimonials:

Every time I plan an event I consult with Jonathan Pearl to schedule the best date. Currently, I run Project Flower Shop, a creative venue in Brooklyn. The art openings have been a notable success, and much of this is due to the aligned energy of the day. In competitive New York it is important to have all the stars on your team. The last event was marked by a freak thunderstorm. What could have been a party wrecker, was in this case a cheer from the skies that only heightened the celebration and energy of the crowd. To many people it was the best art opening they had been to in 2006! I sincerely thank Jonathan Pearl for his accurate and insightful astrological forecasts, and know that I will not be planning an event without his invaluable council.

I've been amazed at how much of what you said during last year's reading has come true, even things I disagreed with at the time. There have been many spiritual developments, as you noted. I started an audio project about faith (which we talked about a bit). I've also decided to convert to Judaism. I'm working with a rabbi, attending a new temple, and am in the middle of my conversion classes. All good things! Your weekly emails, in combination with my notes from the reading, serve as great decision-making tools. Now I'm looking forward to my next reading!

Star*Watch - More info here.

Sun * in Capricorn. After our Sag free-for-all, we work hard on our path of self-realization. Capricorn means ambition and putting in effort to achieve results, but with ruler Saturn in Leo the aims have to be true to our hearts. Monday to Wednesday we focus on our efforts for abundance, then Thursday for about a week we change the structures to create long-term love.

Moon * Full Moon in Cancer Wednesday morning. We have Capricorn ambitions and goals; but we will go only as far as emotions allow. Full Moon in Cancer is a big snowstorm of feelings. At first it is a hassle, but then if we adjust and have the right gear, we can actually have some fun in the cold and wet.

Monday 1/1 * Moon in Gemini. We seek information that alleviates fears and contributes to our success. The mind has discipline now, so a good day for new habits! Most have the day off, but our relationships can contribute to business and we are open to innovative approaches.

Tuesday 1/2 * Moon in Cancer. Moon in Cancer always emphasizes emotions, and a Full Moon means a big surge. As much as we have Capricorn ambitions and plans, our inner emotions (Moon) will direct our way. We turn to older women friends for guidance, and long walks help too.

Wednesday 1/3 * Full Moon in Cancer early, Venus in Aquarius. After the big snowfall of emotion last night and this morning, we awake and survey our insides. How are we going to get the car on the road? And if have a sense of humor, how can we have some fun along the way? If you are are experiencing emotions that are a bit too much, be inspired by everyone who skis - let's turn this inclement weather into something fun! Analogy aside, the pull between Capricorn and Cancer is responsibilities and accomplishment (both Capricorn) against nourishment and needs (Cancer). Our culture likes to think the accomplishment comes first - I think it is the other way round but I am a lunar kind of guy. Venus in Aquarius turns the tables in love and comes up with a more intelligent solution to having romance needs met.

Thursday 1/4 * Moon in Cancer, into Leo 1:15 pm. Usually Leo is described as dramatic, but not with Sun in Capricorn. After the moodiness of the last few days, we'll be back to a work focus with the to-do list in our heads leading the way.

Friday 1/5 * Moon in Leo. Another day for intellectual effort to accomplish our goals; and yet feelings and needs continue to be a theme today and over the weekend. With Venus in Aquarius singles seeking love find it in your circle of friends (and maybe even expand that set online), and couples can intelligently re-shuffle their love habits.

Saturday 1/6 * Moon in Leo, into Virgo 10:20 pm, Sun conjunct Mercury. We'll feel more warmhearted after Moon passes Saturn around 11 am, then our minds have power to accomplish our aims. The greatness of Capricorn is the long term vision; the trap is motivation not by joy but by fear.

Sunday 1/7 * Moon in Virgo. If holiday festivities mean you didn't clean house for the new year, here's your chance - Virgo purifies. We have a home and inward focus today, or if nature calls go hike up a mountain just like a goat.

Have a stellar week!

Peace and love,
Jonathan Pearl

Wandering Stars - the planets

Mercury * in Capricorn. Our minds work hard for real results, and we put in the brain-time to achieve our goals. Capricorn can accomplish much but the hidden secret of the sign is fear. Mercury in Capricorn through through January 15.

Venus * in Capricorn, into Aquarius. After going after the long term love (or for some just doing without) with Venus in Capricorn, we turn the tables with Venus in Aquarius. If those existing structures aren't working, we'll find new and better ones. Friends are more attractive now, and we value our community. And don't forget the calves! Venus in Capricorn through January 27.

Mars * in Sagittarius. Mars in Sag means men act like the confident archer - more upbeat, assertive, athletic and always in pursuit of prey. This placement energizes the thighs. Mars in Sag through January 17 2007.

Jupiter * in Sagittarius. Jupiter is opportunities and expansion and in his home sign of Sag, improvements and abundance come easy. Jupiter in Sagittarius through December 2007.

Saturn * Retrograde in Leo. Concrete Saturn is moving into the 2nd pass of an opposition with destabilizing Neptune. All long term structures are not as solid as they seem.  Saturn in Leo through September 2007.

Dragon's Head * in Pisces. We advance towards peace, arts and spirituality, and partnerships are also a must. Without the sweet embrace of love, substitutes can be not just an occasional indulgence but a routine.

Dragon's Tail * in Virgo. As placements go, this is a bit tough. The Dragon's Tail is like the tai-chi master doing quiet movements but little else. How does this function in the sign of accomplishment through detail & perfection? We let go of ways we are unnecessarily restrictive. Hard work is a virtue, but unless guided by a Pisces wholeness will never bring us true peace.
