Wandering Stars

Dear friends,

Mercury retrograde is one of those astrology events that a lot of people know about. It's easy to recognize - whenever usually reliable technology goes haywire, people return from your past, everyone is changing what they said and even your own mind is playing tricks on you, Mercury retrograde is a good guess. And yes we're in another one now from Tuesday February 13 to March 7.

The recommendations of most astrologers go like this: don't buy things you want to last, back up tech beforehand and avoid a major installation, don't sign contracts. Even though these caveats may sound quaint to our ever advancing modern mind, in my experience these are indeed warranted.

A dear friend owns a tea store in Japantown and sells some lovely Oribe ware cups. Several years ago I purchased a set, then about 2 years thought I'd complement the pair with another one. Mercury was retrograde and I knew it, but thought that this was safe. 3 months later in the next Mercury retrograde, I broke one of the cups. Then before the next one, I broke the other. The original set purchased several years ago remains intact!

This is just but one example - Mercury retrograde has earned my respect. So what do we do with these three weeks? Anything involving communications from the past is favored. This means contacting people from long ago, conducting research, reading old books, stimulating the mind with anything historic, and to some extent catching up on the inbox.

Many people will find that they naturally re-think or change their minds about all kinds of things. Re-do, re-think and re-consider often show up on other Mercury Rx guides. However, in my view any reconsidering during these 3 weeks needs to taken with a healthy pinch of salt! For example, if we thought we were about to move and Mercury retrograde lands and then we decide to stay, we might think that is the end of the matter - until Mercury direct changes our minds once again! The bottom line: view all ideas, especially ones with long term importance, with a certain amount of suspicion. The path will become clear after March 7. Until then, whatever brilliant ideas we hatch up may just be for these 3 weeks and that is it.

Star*Watch - More info here.

Sun * in Pisces. The water sign of Pisces knows to go with the flow. We relax our Aquarian efforts and take time to experience connections on an emotional and spiritual level. Since Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac, we are attuned towards endings and letting go. Today through Wednesday we sense the end of a cycle in love, then head towards our next adventure.

Moon * First Quarter Moon in Gemini on Friday. How to gather the data in the Pisces ocean? Feelings and psychic hits are the more effective methods.

Monday 2/19 * Moon in Pisces, into Aries 11:05, Venus square Pluto. With Sun in Pisces we aren't going to rush anywhere, but still we'll feel the surge of energy with Moon into Aries this morning. Today this is good for accomplishment towards our long term goals. On Venus square Pluto - love is very, very on; or entirely off. We can also adjust what we desire so that we can have more of what we want.

Tuesday 2/20 * Moon in Aries. Did you notice what you were loving with Venus at her exaltation this past weekend? Today on Mars day with Moon in Mars-ruled Aries, the warrior planet is quite close to his own point of maximum exaltation. Where have you putting your energy and driven towards accomplishing in the past 6 weeks? Just like watching what we love over the past weekend tells us about the true state of our heart, today tells us about our path of action.

Wednesday 2/21 * Moon in Aries, into Taurus 12:05, Venus into Aries. Today we have a bit of celestial mix up. Typically we rush off in Aries and slow down in Taurus, but this week with Aries president Mars in Capricorn (slow and steady) and Taurus Queen Venus in Aries (impetuous) we have the reverse! We'll set off to new pleasures and loves today.

Thursday 2/22 * Moon in Taurus, Sun conjunct Rx Mercury. Yes you are brilliantly creative today, just read the above column. Whatever bright ideas you think you are having, if you are really smart you'll wait til 3/7 to see if they still apply.

Friday 2/23 * Moon in Taurus, into Gemini 2:40 pm. Mercury also affects the hands, and with the retrograde typos can just add to the communication snafus. Hands do more than type: haircuts, surgery, massage, guitar-playing ... all of these and more may not be functioning as usual. On the other hand, haha, with Mercury on royal star Formalhaut our minds are soaking up a deeper wisdom.

Saturday 2/24 * Moon in Gemini. How to gather data with Mercury Rx in Pisces? Imagine, feel & sense; forget about the logical facts for now. Example: decide on a restaurant based on the vibe you get when you think about it, not the review or even what friends say.

Sunday 2/25 * Moon in Gemini, Mars into Aquarius, Moon in Cancer 7:50 pm. Even though this for just the tail end of an weekend evening (yet more Monday & Tuesday), the Sun in Pisces and Moon in Cancer combo is one of the most spiritual in the zodiac. Both of these signs feel deeply, don't want to harm a thing and effortlessly go deep.

Have a stellar week!

Peace and love,
Jonathan Pearl

Wandering Stars - the planets

Mercury * Rx in Pisces. Rx alert February 12 to March 7. Mercury in Pisces is brilliantly creative but details and communication may be too diffuse to accomplish much for the next 3 weeks. And about tech stuff, forget it.

Venus * in Pisces, into Aries on Wednesday. After loving what is with Venus in Pisces, we set off on a new desire adventure with Venus in the sign of the headlong rush. Impetuous & me first but never boring. Venus in Aries through March 17.

Mars * in Capricorn, entering Aquarius. Mars might be exalted in Capricorn, but he is even smarter in Aquarius! The renegade intellectual, fighter for some humanitarian concern, the one willing to buck the system for the greater good. Mars in Aquarius through April 6 2007.

Jupiter * in Sagittarius. Jupiter is opportunities and expansion and in his home sign of Sag, improvements and abundance come easy. Jupiter in Sagittarius through December 2007.

Saturn * Retrograde in Leo. Concrete Saturn is moving into the 2nd pass of an opposition with destabilizing Neptune. All long term structures are not as solid as they seem.  Saturn in Leo through September 2007.

Dragon's Head * in Pisces. We advance towards peace, arts and spirituality, and partnerships are also a must. Without the sweet embrace of love, substitutes can be not just an occasional indulgence but a routine.

Dragon's Tail * in Virgo. As placements go, this is a bit tough. The Dragon's Tail is like the tai-chi master doing quiet movements but little else. How does this function in the sign of accomplishment through detail & perfection? We let go of ways we are unnecessarily restrictive. Hard work is a virtue, but unless guided by a Pisces wholeness will never bring us true peace.
