Wandering Stars

Dear friends,

We are moving from one of the most difficult weeks of the year (if I use the words "worst nightmare" to describe an aspect, that's a hint) to one of the very best. By the end of the week, a very rare true grand trine in fire signs forms among Saturn, Jupiter and Venus. Whatever stumbles, fears or darkness we might have encountered in recent past, we can regain our zest and emerge the shining hero.

And yet the Sun is in Pisces and moving towards the North node, amplifying the ocean sign for all of us. What did Homer have to say?

At the beginning of the 12th Pisces chapter, Odysseus and crew have returned from the prophet Tiresias and others in the land of the dead and are now back on the island of Circe (see both Aquarius chapter here to catch up). Like other chapters, Homer gives us a clue in the first lines: "We beached our craft on the sands ... and there we fell asleep, awaiting dawns first light."

In a story full of action and adventure, I take note anytime anyone goes to sleep - and here it is the whole crew. Dreams make the list of just about every Pisces astrology stereotype. Pisces is the sign that imagines, then action comes in Aries. It is dreamtime for all of us.

After they wake, Circe lays out the course for Odysseus. She tells him what's to come in detail, describing three challenges: the thrilling (and addictive) song of the Sirens, the choice of sea dangers between the Clashing Rocks or the monsters Scylla and Charybdis, and then the most dangerous test of all, the island of the cattle of the Sun-god.

Odysseus got information in Aquarius, but he also gets a prophecy in Pisces. And I'll bet that of all the genuine psychics out there most have a connection to Pisces either by Sun, Moon or rising sign. Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac, but it also looks ahead to the next cycle. We get information about the future here. We'll look at the 3 dangers next week!

Now for some practical advice. A singer asks: "I'm on tour in Europe and it isn't going well. What's going on?"

Answer: This is indeed a tough time for singing. Your voice probably isn't performing as it usually does - it can be off or might even sound constricted in some way. The worst will pass as of March 2. In the meantime, sing heartbreak or otherwise 'sad songs' if you have any in your repertoire (note answer sent to client on 2/25). Then after March 2, things will start to get better.

This time we'll view the person's chart and transits for answers. If fuzzy click to zoom in. Barbara is a Pisces rising with ruler Jupiter in the 3rd house in Taurus. Taurus is the sign of the throat and the 3rd house is communications. We also see a dynamic opposition between Mercury in Sagittarius (the speaker with 100 topics) and Moon in Gemini (the communicator) at the angles - no wonder she's a singer!

But at the time of the question, transiting Saturn at 20 Leo was *backing* into a square with her Jupiter at 20 Taurus. Jupiter is the ruler of her ascendant and thus the support of her physical body, and in the sign of the throat. Her voice was off or constricted due to Saturn's heavy energy. It is my experience that these transits or aspects formed during retrograde motion from a difficult planet are the worst. The aspect completed on 3/2, then slowly moved on. We can count on Saturn for difficulties and suffering, and this is why I suggested she sing sad songs because these sound more natural for this particular week.

The singer will be planning her next tour by checking astrology beforehand!

Sun * in Pisces. The water sign of Pisces knows to go with the flow. We relax our Aquarian efforts and take time to experience connections on an emotional and spiritual level. Since Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac, we are attuned towards endings and letting go. On Monday and Tuesday we are oriented towards prosperity through effort and cooperation with others, then Tuesday to Friday we are changing our mind or inventing new solutions, then Friday through the weekend we are dynamically changing course.

Moon * Moving towards Last Quarter on Sunday 3/11. Sun in Pisces and Moon in Sagittarius are more alike than not, yet Sun wants spiritual riches while the Moon likes real world prosperity and adventures.

Monday 3/5 * Moon in Libra, Sun conjunct Uranus. Sudden breakthroughs and insights are possible today because Uranus gets us out of routines into uncharted territory. The Libra Moon is cooperative but only to a point, as in what can this partnership do for me (Venus in Aries). We are strongly energized midday and start to pick up on the dynamic action oriented fire grand trine at night.

Tuesday 3/6 * Moon in Libra, Sun conjunct North node. We want to be productive today, but in a way we're not exactly sure how. On one hand we're willing to postpone some immediate results in the name of laying some groundwork, yet on the other we want some instant gratification. If you want to know what the grand trine means for you (see above), watch what happens in life this afternoon for a clue. Sun meeting the Node means we are devouring - this can be information, a change of course, financial improvement or even Pisces sweet treats - and in general we are like a dragon swooping down and making off with the king's crown.

Wednesday 3/7 * Moon in Libra, into Scorpio 2:17, Mercury direct! Mercury direct late in the evening will mean indecision all day and and changes of mind at night. And yet what we love to love comes through with Venus trine Jupiter early the next morn, one of the best aspects in astrology.

Thursday 3/8 * Moon in Scorpio, Venus trine Jupiter early. The grand trine is in play all week, but peaks between last night and early tomorrow. We are acting grandly today, perhaps a bit too much but it will likely all work out. Emotionally we are willing to put in the intelligent effort and work our community connections to make things happen.

Friday 3/9 * Moon in Scorpio, Venus trine Saturn, Sun square Jupiter, Venus sextile Neptune. I'm usually not as aspect focused as other astrologers, preferring the traditional emphasis on rulership to tell us what is really happening, but still today we have no less than 3 major planet alignments. If it seems like something big is going on in your life, it probably is! The Fire element is emphasized and this means energy, action, confidence, movement and transformation by moving through. In addition, heat from any source - the Sun, smoking and friction between bodies. Venus sextile Neptune adds a dose of pleasant fantasy to the mix.

Saturday 3/10 * Moon in Sagittarius. This may oddly feel like a letdown after the peak of yesterday, but no complaining with Moon in optimistic Sag. We just might have to work a bit harder than we were thinking yesterday.

Sunday 3/11 * Last Quarter Moon in Sagittarius. An all round positive day for putting effort into all kinds of expansion and exploration, whether than means going the distance on your Sunday hike or putting in some hours later that evening to forward what's important to you.

Have a stellar week!

Peace and love,
Jonathan Pearl

Wandering Stars - the planets

Mercury * Rx in Aquarius, turning direct 3/7! Communications that just haven't worked out will start to happen. The rubber band stretched, stretched is now released and our minds take off with alternative plans. Mercury in Aquarius through March 18. Tip: wait a week before ordering a new computer for Mercury to get back up to speed.

Venus * in Aries. We set off on a new desire adventure with Venus in the sign of the headlong rush. Impetuous & me first but never boring. Venus in Aries through March 17.

Mars * in Aquarius. Mars might be exalted in Capricorn, but he is even smarter in Aquarius! The renegade intellectual, fighter for some humanitarian concern, the one willing to buck the system for the greater good. Mars in Aquarius through April 6.

Jupiter * in Sagittarius. Jupiter is opportunities and expansion and in his home sign of Sag, improvements and abundance come easy. Jupiter in Sagittarius through December 2007. 07.

Saturn * Retrograde in Leo. Concrete Saturn is moving into the 2nd pass of an opposition with destabilizing Neptune. All long term structures are not as solid as they seem.  Saturn in Leo through September 2007.

Dragon's Head * in Pisces. We advance towards peace, arts and spirituality, and partnerships are also a must. Without the sweet embrace of love, substitutes can be not just an occasional indulgence but a routine.

Dragon's Tail * in Virgo. As placements go, this is a bit tough. The Dragon's Tail is like the tai-chi master doing quiet movements but little else. How does this function in the sign of accomplishment through detail & perfection? We let go of ways we are unnecessarily restrictive. Hard work is a virtue, but unless guided by a Pisces wholeness will never bring us true peace.
