Blast of talent!

Wandering Stars

Dear friends,

I have just returned from Sedona and the Blast, a 5 day ensemble of incredibly talented young astrologers. There were some more established names there too, and both they and the audience were truly impressed by the quality of the presentations. Many people said it was the best astrology conference they'd ever attended. The Pluto-in-Virgo generation (and many Pl-in-Libras too) raised the bar on astrology precision, technique and obsession far higher than the Pluto-in-Leos could ever have imagined, imho. Here's a rundown of most of the people who presented. Consider this a Who's Who of the new generation of astrologers in the USA. MP3s of talks will be available soon from the Blast website.

Maria Mateus gave a fantastic introduction to the use of profections. She has thought deeply about the philosophical and spiritual foundation of astrology and this shows in her work.

Michelle Gould talked about Babylonian Moon cycles and their emphasis on lunar latitude. Latitude is generally overlooked in modern western astrology and definitely warrants more attention.

Yours truly talked on 2 of my favorite Greek techniques, antiscia and duodecima. I use these techniques to predict the stock market - advance calls now for subscribing clients only but you can see the results at my QuickTrader blog. I also gave a longer workshop on understanding a chart and gaining insight into periods of time in life.

Nick Dagan Best gave a thoroughly entertaining presentation on Venus and Mars retrograde cycles with literally more than 100 examples from musicians. Nick also took top honors for encyclopedic knowledge of astrology and events.

Eric Francis has an inspired vision of Sun-sign scopes. For free monthlies check out his website.

Rebecca Crane talked about a spiritual astrology and use of this perspective in therapy and healing. Watch for more from Rebecca.

Chad Harris spoke about evolution and consciousness - just consider Chad the next Rick Tarnas.

I missed Adam Gainsburg's talk on Chiron but judging from the caliber of all presentations, if you are at all curious about the often mentioned yet little understood planetoid between Saturn and Uranus then get the MP3 of this presentation.

Moses Siregar, organizer of the conference, talked on relocation astrology and has established himself as the resident expert in this area. I highly recommend Moses for all detailed relocation questions.

Sam Geppi, another Bay Area astrologer, talked about Moon yogas in Indian astrology. If you would like to learn more about Indian  astrology (which I encourage anyone interested in astrology to do) Sam's your guy. Here's an offer for a CD with tons of material for just $15.

Chris Brennan gave a flawless & textbook quality presentation of the foundations of Greek astrology and then proceeded to demonstrate his work with one of its newly recovered timing techniques. Chris is without question the 'go-to' person for Greek astrology and its history.

Maurice Fernandez was another one I missed (was preparing for talk #2) but check out his website for articles, a forum and more.

Eric Meyers returned to the essential foundation of astrology, the Sun and Moon. He has also written a whole book (his 2nd) on the subject. Anyone starting with the lights gets a big thumbs up from me, but if you want more info here's another book review.

Bill Street gave a fantastic presentation on the outer planets. Bill is Bay Area young astrologer so I've seen a few of his talks. He is always crystal clear on complex concepts and he illustrates his points with a wonderful variety of well chosen examples.

Kelly Lee Phipps may be the most enthusiastic astrologer of any generation. For an uplifting new voice, check out his website and book.

Sherene Schostak knows Saturn well enough to be funny about it, which is not the simplest thing to do. She produces an amazing online mag and here's her blog too.

I am so into antiscia and duodecima because they help me be a more accurate astrologer. A recent client says: "I learned so much from his unique perspectives. [...] A reading with Jonathan is a very validating experience, and helps an individual understand themselves, their inclinations and experiences in a much deeper way." Read the full testimonial.

Sun * in Aries. We launch in new direction with Sun in headstrong Aries, yet in coming days we are also informed by the past. If you've wanted to get moving but haven't gotten out of the gate, obstacles should start to clear up on Wednesday. We are forging ahead with our ability to be synthetic in our thinking.

Moon * Full Moon in Libra on Monday 4/2, now moving towards Last Quarter on Tuesday 4/10.

Monday 4/2 * Full Moon in Libra. With lover Venus frustrated or even sad the last few days with this early morning's aspect to Saturn, this full Moon offers the glimpse of relationships improving and pleasure coming back to life.

Tuesday 4/3 * Moon in Libra, into Scorpio 9:35 pm. Though we have big ideas and are thinking positively, our energy may be low today. We can also be oriented towards experience from the past. One idea: Picasso is free today in SF.

Wednesday 4/4 * Moon in Scorpio, Mercury square Jupiter, Venus square Neptune, Mars sextile Pluto. Squares are bad and sextiles are good, right? No. Our mind connecting with the uplifting and expanding energy of Jupiter is a big positive, regardless of how. Venus aspecting Neptune is often pleasant for art and fantasy if you can let the dream go when its over. But Mars sextile Pluto is not so cooperative despite the so called easier aspect.

Thursday 4/5 * Moon in Scorpio, Jupiter Rx! The most important events in the sky are when planets change direction. Today and the few days leading up to it we are getting a big dose of optimism, prosperity consciousness and possibility.

Friday 4/6 * Moon in Scorpio, into Sagittarius 10:00 am, Mars into Pisces. Friday is day of Venus and she's all about pleasure in relationships. Enjoy one more week of the love goddess in the sign of touch, feel, smell and taste.

Saturday 4/7 * Moon in Sagittarius. A cooperative integration between forward assertion, expanding possibility and durability is one take on the grand trine forming between Sun in Aries (moving ahead), Saturn in Leo (effort to make things last) and Jupiter in Sagittarius (growth). Overall a happy weekend.

Sunday 4/8 * Moon in Sagittarius, into Capricorn 8:35 pm, Sun trine Saturn early. Grand trine still in play as Sun moves from the effort and durability towards even greater expansion. We enjoy our traditions, yet look forward towards the future; we are grounded by a secure past yet know more growth will come.

Have a stellar week!

Peace and love,
Jonathan Pearl

Wandering Stars - the planets

Mercury * in Pisces. Your mind usually functions best as a PC but now it's an Apple. Make that adjustment and everything is fine - less detail, more design; less fact, more fluidity; fewer deadlines, more possibilities. Mercury in Pisces through April 10.

Venus * in Taurus. One of the most pleasurable signs for Venus, since we take time to find out what is really satisfying. Touch, smell and taste are turning us on; and we want it slower, longer, deeper. It's gotta be real, and yeah $$$ helps the attraction too. Venus in Taurus through April 11.

Mars * in Aquarius, entering Pisces April 6. Mars in Pisces mean men turn into artists and rockers. Bono is just one of the very best examples here with Mars at 29 Pisces. He has the creativity, the raw emotion and powerful drive towards art. Mars in Pisces through May 15.

Jupiter * in Sagittarius. Jupiter is opportunities and expansion and in his home sign of Sag, improvements and abundance come easy. Jupiter turning retrograde this week, so Santa will be on hold for a few months. Jupiter in Sagittarius through December 2007.

Saturn * Retrograde in Leo. Currently Rx, so some important foundations are on hold. Saturn direct April 19 and in Leo through September 2007..

Dragon's Head * in Pisces. We advance towards peace, arts and spirituality, and partnerships are also a must. Without the sweet embrace of love, substitutes can be not just an occasional indulgence but a routine.

Dragon's Tail * in Virgo. As placements go, this is a bit tough. The Dragon's Tail is like the tai-chi master doing quiet movements but little else. How does this function in the sign of accomplishment through detail & perfection? We let go of ways we are unnecessarily restrictive. Hard work is a virtue, but unless guided by a Pisces wholeness will never bring us true peace.
