Wandering Stars

Dear friends,

Last Friday Mars, warrior of the sky, entered Pisces, ocean sign of peace. Though traditionally considered well placed because water cools the hotheaded Mars to make him less tempestuous, it is still an interesting mix. Everyone, and men especially, are driven towards art and passionate about music, push towards spirit and fight to unite.

Do I sound contradictory? How about Bono of U2 saying he's not really a celebrity but rather a "scribbling, cigar-smoking, wine-drinking, Bible-reading band man ... a husband, father, friend of the poor and sometimes the rich ... chess player, part-time rock star, opera singer in the loudest folk group in the world." He's got quite a chart and imho well deserved fame but for this column we'll just say Mars, 29 Pisces. A man for whom there is no contradiction in an extra large glass of communion & leading prayer groups by the thousands in black T instead of collar, by song instead of sermon.

Or how about another man in black, Johnny Cash with Sun, Mercury and Mars all in Pisces. "I always knew I was going to become a singer, even from the age of four." His mother believed it enough to do laundry during the Depression to pay for music lessons. But why the black? Moon in Scorpio is my take.

Pisces is the sign where we connect to the whole. With Mars here there is an urge, a drive, a force in the way that we usually do this. We can no longer simply sit in the bath -we have to sweat first, or rely on something stronger. Think of a soldier just in from battle - is lavender oil going to do it? No. Try 20 laps in the pool, then a scotch and cigar, then the hot tub.

Am I condoning the current role of the US military here? Hell no! Simply, Mars is action and the warrior motif fits - Mars is often a bit out of control. With Mars in Pisces, here are some ideas of going with the stronger flow:

Walk, jog and run near the beach or water.

Light incense before you sleep. Mars is anything burning, Pisces = dreams.

Get out to a concert, especially on an upcoming Friday night.

Star*Watch - More info here.

Sun * in Aries. We rush in a new direction with Sun in headstrong Aries. Daring, assertive, impetuous.

Moon * Last Quarter in Capricorn on Tuesday 4/10.

Monday 4/9 * Moon in Capricorn, Sun trine Jupiter. Capricorn can be serious, but not with Sun trine Jupiter. This is a hurrah of the good mood of the past few days.

Tuesday 4/10 * Last Quarter Moon in Capricorn, Mercury square Pluto, Mercury into Aries. Our dreams may be disturbed but we can make up for it during the day with our imagination. Sun in Aries wants to rush; Moon in Capricorn takes the slow sure step - how do we reconcile our orientation towards the new with the satisfaction of the sure accomplishment?

Wednesday 4/11 * Moon in Aquarius, Venus into Gemini. Bookstore lovers unite! If you are smart, slick, witty and have interesting authors on your shelves, Venus in Gemini will love you.

Thursday 4/12 * Moon in Aquarius. We are pulled towards community and with Venus freshly in chatty Gemini there will be plenty of she said he did she did he said what?

Friday 4/13 * Moon in Pisces. Moon meets Mr Mars at 6:30 pm, so a perfect night for at last one of the Mars-Pisces activities listed above.

Saturday 4/14 * Moon in Pisces. Pisces is the sign that lets go. We may find ourselves suddenly willing to get rid of things we thought we were going to keep. Best case: apply this to worn out emotions as well as the closet clutter.

Sunday 4/15 * Moon in Aries 9:45 am. Aries can be a rush, but with ruler Mars in the last sign of the zodiac it will feel more like time to meander.

Have a stellar week!

Peace and love,
Jonathan Pearl

Wandering Stars - the planets

Mercury * in Pisces, entering Aries on April 10. Mercury in Aries is snaps to it, and after so many weeks in water Pisces we'll benefit from our mental acuity. Lots of ideas and ability to tick of the to-do as well. The downside - selfish mind. Mercury in Aries through April 27.

Venus * in Taurus, entering Gemini April 11. Venus in the sign of ideas means love of curiosity, talking, books and authors. The most attractive body part is the head on their shoulders. Gemini will try anything twice.  Venus in Gemini through May 8.

Mars * in Pisces. Mars in Pisces mean men turn into artists and rockers. Bono is just one of the very best examples here with Mars at 29 Pisces. He has the creativity, the raw emotion and powerful drive towards art. Mars in Pisces through May 15.

Jupiter * in Sagittarius. Jupiter is opportunities and expansion and in his home sign of Sag, improvements and abundance come easy. Jupiter turning retrograde this week, so Santa will be on hold for a few months. Jupiter in Sagittarius through December 2007.

Saturn * Retrograde in Leo. Currently Rx, so some important foundations are on hold. Saturn direct April 19 and in Leo through September 2007..

Dragon's Head * in Pisces. We advance towards peace, arts and spirituality, and partnerships are also a must. Without the sweet embrace of love, substitutes can be not just an occasional indulgence but a routine.

Dragon's Tail * in Virgo. As placements go, this is a bit tough. The Dragon's Tail is like the tai-chi master doing quiet movements but little else. How does this function in the sign of accomplishment through detail & perfection? We let go of ways we are unnecessarily restrictive. Hard work is a virtue, but unless guided by a Pisces wholeness will never bring us true peace.
