Wandering Stars
Dear friends,
Watching the world through
astrology is like looking into a kaleidoscope. Even though its the same circle,
and the same little bits of colored glass behind the lens, each image is
different. So if you like variety, and who doesn't with Mercury now in Gemini
and Sun soon to follow, just consider:
Today as I write we have Sun and a waning Moon in
Taurus, with Mercury is in Gemini and Venus in Cancer.
Last year on this date, Sun and Mercury were
together both in Taurus, Venus was back in Aries and Moon was just past full in
Sagittarius.
Two years back, Sun and Mercury were again in
Taurus, Venus ahead in Gemini and Moon waxing in Leo.
Three, Sun in Taurus, Mercury behind in Aries,
Venus again in Gemini and a dim Moon just into Aries.
And this is just with the Sun, Moon, Mercury and
Venus! We're not even mentioning Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, the nodes, Uranus,
Neptune or Pluto.
To beginners, these phrases sound like jargon and
may go in ear and out the other. But if you have some experience watching the
planets and signs, each expression contains a multitude of images and
experiences. Like a recipe, we can imagine the effects of the combinations but
we only know the taste once the moment and actual dish arrives. This metaphor is
often overdone, but learning astrology is like learning to read the cookbook of
life.
For our next course, Mars is entering Aries
tomorrow. After 6 weeks through the water sign of Pisces, driving people and
especially men towards too much wine and chocolate, water sports or yoga if you
were smart, and staying up all hours, the warrior planet hits his home sign.
This is a potent activator of energy - everyone will have more force, more guts,
more *charge!* just like the Ram. And ya, we might be blind to our neighbors in
our rush ahead, but there is no better placement for getting in kick-ass shape.
Whatever your sport, turn it up several notches for the next 6 weeks.
At the same time, Venus is in Cancer for the rest
of the month. People in general and especially women are being nicer to each
other than any other time of year. Have you noticed this? Strangers talking
waiting for coffee, people thinking of others, taking care of each other. Venus
in Cancer does love food and other domestic (bed) pleasures, but an increased
humanity and sensitivity all around is part of it too.
And so, a curious thing - men will soon be soon
running roughshod and women sweet as all get out. With Mercury in Gemini and Sun
entering in just a week, talk talk talk about it!

Sun * in Taurus. Sun in Taurus secures wealth, so that we can buy all the the
lovely things we desire. Venus moving into Cancer means we love our homes,
families, and most of all, good food!
Moon * New Moon in Taurus on Wednesday 5/16.
Monday 5/14 * Moon in Aries, into Taurus 7:50 pm.
During the day, we realize how to end a certain something for good; and by
night, we enjoy healthy pleasures that make us feel yummy on the inside.
Tuesday 5/15 * Dark of the Moon in Taurus, Mars
into Aries. With Venus in Cancer we are finding how pleasure and caring for
ourselves and others go hand in hand; good food is A#1, but this doesn't mean
gooey ice-cream. It means organic ice-cream after the grass fed steak, fresh
asparagus and potatoes. Mars in Aries early morning will roust us all on a
double espresso kick, yet with dark of the Moon, our pleasures this eve are the
quieter kind.
Wednesday 5/16 * New Moon in Taurus, Moon into
Gemini 7:35 pm. Like a goose tending her flock, the Taurus Cancer combo will be
sure to have the resources for whatever is needed, be it a mortgage, vacation,
college education, whatever we ourselves or family need to feel safe and grow.
Then with Moon in Gemini everyone will have minds on and mouths open.
Thursday 5/17 * Moon in Gemini. It may not look
like much, but Moon moves towards Mercury in Gemini most of the day. Because
messenger Mercury is in his home sign, today we'll all be intellectually adept,
curious, versatile with the power of silver-tongued svelte communication.
Friday 5/18 * Moon in Gemini, into Cancer at 8:40
pm. After two days of being in our heads in a snappy kind of way, we come into
our bodies is a slower, what-feels-good way. If you aren't feeling so good,
start with a meal like they serve at
Nopa, one of the
latest buzz spots in SF.
Saturday 5/19 * Moon in Cancer, Mercury opposite
Jupiter. A delightful day! Who says oppositions are bad? As our mind is happier
and using all those thoughts for something grand, we are feeling the love with
women and family as Moon moves towards Venus all day. A fine night for a fancy
meal out or better one you have cooked yourself.
Sunday 5/20 * Moon in Cancer, Mercury square
Uranus. Haha, who says squares are bad too? Uranus is imagination, and the only
challenge here is being so inventive others can't quite keep up. With Mercury in
Gemini, though, surely you can find a way to explain.
